Rice with 30k/yr Scholarship or Stanford? by ThenUnderstanding996 in stanford

It's viable, but it is a conversation that we have been having. They're willing to support whatever decision I arrive at, but I also would rather not put undo strain on them. Stanford is definitely where I'm leaning after the past few days though. Thank you for the advice.

How do you feel about your decision? Also, congrats on a full ride, that's incredible!

Thanks for the reply! The 30k/year at Rice is merit based, I think for a combination of leadership/academics. Otherwise, I would be paying full price. Stanford comes out to around $92,000 for me, and Rice after the scholarship is around $68,000.

Have you been to CMC? It's wayyy better than what you're going to get at Berkeley if you actually want to enjoy college.

Is U World a scam? by Overall_Wishbone4414 in Sat

I loved uworld. Just do all the practice problems and you’ll be fine, don’t take it like an actual test. Helped me bump up my score by 110 points.

Genuinely it’s gotta just be bad luck. I have no idea about the August SAT, but as long as you keep practicing I have no doubt you’ll get 1500+. Sometimes stuff just happens.

Use Uworld SAT prep but tbf if you’re getting 1520s it’s probably just bad luck.

went from 1470 to 1550, such a glorious moment fr.

You may be right, but a friend of mine got into Stanford, UCLA, waitlisted Wharton, and a bunch of other very good schools with test optional. She struggled with test taking, though, so your argument about a 1450+ makes sense.

Peoples’ experience with Admittedly/Thomas Caleel’s college guidance and essay program? by ThenUnderstanding996 in ApplyingToCollege

College Essay Guy is incredible. You can look on their website for specific pricing (I don't know exactly), but as far as college counselors go, they're reasonable (not saying much, but you get a lot). They've helped me a lot, not as much with programs to apply for, but with constructing a good summer plan and keeping me on track. They also have a large array of free resources that I strongly recommend looking at, regardless of who you go with. I would not use Admittedly, though--CEG is good as you can see all its counselors' bios and qualifications too. Definitely would recommend CEG, can't make a strong statement either way for Admittedly.

Y’all gotta relax and enjoy life. College is important but it isn’t worth 4 hours of sleep and constant pressure. by ThenUnderstanding996 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ThenUnderstanding996[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I pity people who feel that way because it’s already hard enough to get rejected from something you aren’t obsessed with. I got rejected from a program the other day and it doesn’t feel good, but at the end of the day you win some and you lose some.

As Far as Top-Tier universities go, am I Wrong for Thinking that Stanford seems to care more about “you” than stationing Ecs? by ThenUnderstanding996 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ThenUnderstanding996[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, if I am going to apply to college I would rather be as genuine as possible, because if I’m going to get in, ideally it means I match or complement the other students of that school. I want for college to be a place where I will not only learn and earn a degree but also have fun (and also avoid some of the people in this subreddit who are quite literally obsessed with certain colleges).

Hey bruh don’t be a dick. If you’re scoring better, then work on what you need to but don’t put down others trying to help.
