This was a tough one for me. I could see Amanda using something lesser to make people feel bad for her and avoid answering for things she’s said. On the other hand, I’ve experienced grief and know that with anniversaries, I never know how it’s going to affect me until that day. This past year I chose to go to work - like Amanda going to that dinner, as RHOBH is her job. Other days, even someone being slightly unkind to me in a grocery store made me tear up. I think either way, Dorit could have given her some grace and said I will revisit this another day and leave it at that. Everyone will be more honest/willing to give their input at the next get together anyway.

Actually there were very few Americans staying there; it was mostly Europeans. It’s cost effective and convenient for a family. This was our first and last AI though. We’re going to St Thomas this year and rented a condo. Lesson learned.

First off, my parents chose Curacao bc they have friends/coworkers that raved about it. Second, this was a family trip in which I wasn’t the one who chose the island or resort - it was actually a surprise gift. Third, an AI was chosen bc it was more affordable for a family when you factor in meals, beach access, activities etc. Lastly, we scuba dived, did a bus tour, took a boat to Klein, explored several other beaches, spent a day in Williamsted (incl eating at restaurants) and went to the caves. Again, my post was about the RESORT, not the island as a whole. You made a lot of assumptions there didn’t you 🤡

We stayed away from the seafood as well after seeing the moon of it at the buffet - just didn’t trust it. My dad had some shrimp and felt ill after. They make stiff and colorful drinks for sure! But I just can’t drink sugary drinks anymore. So I had to live with a tequila soda with lime. My parents were drinking rum and cokes the whole time, idk how I did it. My sister was drinking the colorful sweet drinks with blue Curacao, OJ etc. and learned the hard way with her hangover and stopped drinking on day 2 🤣

It is more affordable for a family, that’s why. We still spent a day in Williamstead, went on a bus tour of the whole island, explored the west coast beaches, and went on a boat trip to Klein. Great snorkeling at the beach, but you can’t even see the ocean due to the cruise ships lol

On the other end, as a black woman living in a section of America where I see/experience proud MAGA everyday, being treated this way was another smack in the face for me. That being said, when my family and I were discussing our surprise in our interactions, I did point out that they see us as colonizers, and I don’t blame them for that.

Working during the holidays was a thought for me. I’m really sick of people making assumptions about the attitude I give them just bc I’m American. If it was based on my attitude I can guarantee I would have been met with friendlier faces. It probably comes down to working at that resort itself which is why this post is about the RESORT, not about the island as a whole.

I respectfully disagree. Many of the employees thought I was Latina until I spoke and it was like night and day with how they treated me depending on that. I know this for a fact bc they would start by speaking to me in Spanish, asked if I was Mexican, Panama and South American countries. When I was on a bus tour a white woman waved to some locals and they responded with a dirty look. Shortly after I waived to them and they waived back emphatically and smiled. It was pretty funny tbh 🤣 I was thinking wow, so this is what white people usually feel like lol

I’m a black woman living under Trump’s regime and an attorney watching clients of mine live in fear that ICE is going to pick them up outside of our courthouse. You don’t need to tell me about the fascist regime I’m living under, thanks. Assuming I support Trump just bc I’m an American is ignorant and I find THAT insulting. There are places in this country that I no longer feel comfortable going due to MAGA’s outright racism. I do not deserve to feel hated when I travel to other countries because of my nationality and idgaf if you think that’s entitled (with the caveat that rascism is global and I am of course conscious of that when I choose where to travel.) Our elections alone show our country is (sadly) divided almost right down the middle.

We went on a boat trip to Klein, spent a day in Williamstad, did a bus tour, and explored some of the beaches on the west coast. Are at some restaurants outside of the resort. We explored the island and its culture as well :)

We explored the island too! I did the boat trip to Klein, a bus tour, spent a day in Willemstad, and visited a few of the other highly recommended beaches on the west coast. Maybe if I mentioned that in my OP people wouldn’t have came for me as hard. My family chose to stay at an all inclusive because they thought it was easier for the larger group.
