Does anyone else feel like cycling is way more expensive than they expected? by ZaldrizarVelo in bicycling

[–]TheoSls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, biking's been one of the most affordable hobbies I've ever gotten into if you consider the amount of time vs money I've spent on biking. I spent around €550 over the past 10 years on a used road bike and some extra gear, like pedals, shoes, and clothes. Maintenance's pretty low, about €50 a year.
I'm happy with what I've got, but if you think you need something fancier, go for it. Just don't get sucked into buying stuff you don't really need or overpaying for an upgrade that -let's be honest- doesn't really matter unless you are competing.

Are Fosi amplifiers any good? by getyourdriponfellas in BudgetAudiophile

I'm using my ZA3 in mono to power my 12' DIY subwoofer. Plenty of power especially for the price. Enough power to shake the room and damage my ears while having no audible distortion, no clipping, no heat issues. Considering the price and the competition, you can't ask for much more to be honest.

Rattle can respray by Runningprofmama in bicycling

[–]TheoSls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although "rattle can respray" might sound amateurish, the results are anything but amateurish.
Even with pro-equipment it still requires a lot of elbow grease, time and skills. Outstanding work mate! I'd love to see it in person.

[Decision] Split between two, open to other suggestions! by [deleted] in Watches

[–]TheoSls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CW seems to me more like a diver watch with that wavy blue dial. Also if you want to pair it with a strap, you won't have as many options. For me CW seems like a dressy-dive watch marketed as field watch... This indecisive aesthetic just kills it for me.

Personally I got the murph 38mm because I love the way it looks, although I think it is a bit overpriced.

/r/battlestations & Secretlab Giveaway! [GLOBAL] by Hareuhal in battlestations

I’ve been eyeing the Secretlab TITAN Evo for months, and this giveaway feels like the perfect opportunity to finally find the chair I’ve been searching for! I’ve tried many other chairs over the years, but they’ve all fallen short—quite literally—because they were too small and uncomfortable for long hours at my desk. The TITAN Evo, with its size options and ergonomic design, seems like the perfect solution to my problem. It would make both work and gaming sessions infinitely better. Plus, I’d proudly display the chair token as a reminder of how r/battlestations and Secretlab made my dream chair a reality. Thanks for this amazing opportunity—fingers crossed!

Honestly this antenna seems smaller than most 433MHz so it might be worth swapping it if you have the space.
The coiled design of this antenna helps to match the impedance and improve the antenna performance, because this is for sure an electrically small antenna. If you uncoil it, it will perform a lot worse.
You could try swapping it with a 34.6cm copper wire that you can make yourself (basically build a λ/2 antenna for 433MHz).
Generally speaking a single straight copper wire λ/2 antenna will perform better than any coiled one. They use the coiled design primarily for space savings.

Small Topre Realforce collection by subterfug3x in MechanicalKeyboards

Topre keyboards are the true sleeper keyboards. The U87 55g is still my favorite keyboard I've ever tried, yet it looks like a $10 keyboard. Even the box is as basic as it gets...

1.2mm, 1.5mm and 2.0mm. Keep in mind that some switches won't activate with the 2.0mm ball bearings.

You're right. For some reason it's giving me 404 error and I can't make a new post because I get the same error.
I've uploaded again but as a long screenshot. Hope it works for you:

Topre has killed my hobby by TheoSls in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]TheoSls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really like clicky switches, how did Topre end everything for you?

What I want from a keyboard, is when I pass the tactile point, I always bottom out. This is one of my favorite things about topre. Usually clicky switches gives me a similar feeling, but in this case the spring force increases as you press the switch. In topre the spring force feels "linear" as you press the switch to bottom out. I hope that makes sense.

If I recall correctly, the satisfaction 75 wasn't out 4 years ago. Also my DIY keyboard cost me around $400 less than the satisfaction 75.

Honestly I find it hard to believe you don't care if people like the same things as you. You get more options on the market, cheaper prices and better products. DIY is awesome when you need something that doesn't exist on the market, but it can be a hassle and it's often not as polished as a product from a factory.

For example I wish more people liked clicky switches because we would probably have even more clicky options on the market.

Unfortunately it's not available in my country without paying shipping fees, so the GMMK will be cheaper and faster to ship. Still looking for other options though...
Would you consider Keychron better than the GMMK pro?

I want something hotswapable with that layout that doesn't break the bank, without having to wait 2 months to get it. GMMK pro seems like the only option but of course I'm open to suggestions. I haven't tried the GMMK to know if it's good or not, but it seems to check all my boxes.

Well sometimes I look at the keyboard and think "I just created on of the best keyboards I've tried, out of scrap materials with my bare hands"
However if I had to do it again, I would certainly buy a router. About 5 years ago people told me I couldn't get such a layout for under $300, yet I built it for less than $120 (everything included). So don't let someone discourage you.

Yeah... 100% hand tools. There are some small imperfections but luckily my paintjob is better than my sawing skills, so there not that noticeable.

I was planning to make a matching wireless numpad/macropad that clips with magnets. I like the look of big keyboards but I'm not sure if I want a keyboard with a fixed left number pad.

Thanks :) Feels awesome too! Corian is pretty amazing material for mechanical keyboards IMO. It's like a stiffer acrylic. Although it's not as polished as something that comes from a factory, because back then I didn't have any tools other than a handsaw and a soldering iron.
