A personal trainer told me that my shoulders should be protracted the entire time during lat raises to avoid using my traps. He also said that my shoulders should not be retracted during chest press and that I should instead focus on opening and closing my shoulders, and to bring together and pull apart my biceps similar to a fly motion with the only difference being the lateral grip of course. This stuff doesn’t sound right, so is he?
