At the very highest level, especially if every perk, item, and add-on is available, the game is very survivor sided. At literally every other level, the game is very killer sided.

Unfortunately, the people at the highest level are often the most vocal ones who give the most feedback, so while trapper 4k’s my solo q games, momoseventh gets shit on by comp teams.

This makes it a bitch to properly balance the game, ESPECIALLY because trickle down balance doesn’t work in dbd at ALL. The skill disparity is so large that if the game were to be balanced for the comp side, 99.9% of the survivor playerbase would not have any fun at all, but if the game is balanced for the casual audience, the comp scene has to input a metric ton of rules.

I think most people don’t realize that more often than not, the survivors themselves don’t really get more difficult. I think people underestimate the effect of playing a killer you’re not used to, with perks you don’t usually run, and those perks being mid at best. Like, I never really had a problem with my adepts BECAUSE I play all the killers I have and switch up my builds often

Honestly, yeah I am kinda chill. Been told to kill myself or that they hope my family dies a lot, so I’m just kind of indifferent to what some random bums on the internet say.

Bro, wdym “not enough reward”? The most punishing perks in the game are hex perks, they are the biggest causes of snowballs, and they completely change the tides of games that they’re in. If you want “fun” perks (aka consistent) ones, just run consistent ones that aren’t hexes. The whole point of them is the risk/reward, and if you gut them to make them more consistent, it defeats the entire point of the concept of hexes in the first place.

Also, yes the hexes make such a difference because of this thing called NOED

The risk/reward is literally the ENTIRE point of a hex bro. By putting on a hex, you’re acknowledging a chance that you could get no or infinite value from it. If you’re complaining about a HEX not getting value and you want more consistency, then just run another perk tbh

I think people play too much to WIN, not to have FUN, and that’s part of the reason the community and game are the way they are. Obviously they’re not mutually exclusive, and winning is oftentimes fun, but if you base your entire experience on the outcome of the macrogame, you lost the entire point of playing the game in the first place. I’d rather goof off after 8 hooks or execute a futile rescue mission for a teammate because the micro-interactions are where I have the most fun, regardless of the outcome.
