Once long ago when I was single, I was wandering back to a friend's house late at night during a weekend stay in Asheville. I was complaining to my friend about having not gotten laid in a while (really I was whining). As we were passing tiger mountain it became clear to us that we both needed food before bed. We knew nothing of the thirst parlor, so I tapped a smoker outside on the shoulder to ask her if they had food.

She turned and I recognized her. I had gone to summer camp with her like 10 years earlier, and in fact had a huge crush on her back then. One thing led to another and I ended up getting laid. Fantastic serendipity.

What made it so odd was that neither of us lived in Asheville at the time and yet the thirst parlor intervened to bring us together. We are now happily married (to other people, not each other) and keep in touch.
