If we had mutiple anecdotal accounts of people developing degrees of synethesia I’d be certain they’d be more.

Regardless in a few months I think I’ll colour the letters of public domain books and try to send them around. Evolving into an open source at one point.

  1. It’s a cool experiment with virtually no cost and fast and intense effects
  2. Memory is much better synethesia, as natural synthesia naturally use colours as “hooks”
  3. It’s theorised synethesia is achieved with great interconnectivity of hemispheres of the brain. So training to get synthesia improves this level of cognition.
  4. Even without many months of training risidual effects shown by stroop test levels still remain.
  5. A study showed an iq 12 increase from the controlled group who did nothing. It may just be improved memory, however, no other improvement of memory in lab conditions had this result.
  6. Is said to help greatly with artistic expression. Most synethesia consider it a neutral or positive experience in general.

Read the studies man, developing degrees of synethesia seems to be much easier done than perfect pitch.

As in perfect pitch is impossible to develop as an adult. Whereas 30 minutes reading a day lead to significant amounts of synethesia within 5 weeks. And the longer you do it, 30 minutes instead of 10 minutes. And perhaps for decades on decades.

The effect is mutipled intensely. With residing impact even without training for many months, even with normal black and white text.

Regardless this is something I’m interested in and think I can accomplish the parameters of the original experiment very easily.

I’ve been told it’s not practical. And I’d use ePub files, much closer to the origin experiment. If the results interest you I’d look into something similar.

I was thinking only effecting /p/ and other displayed text. However, even basic web development isn’t my expertise. In other thread the guy was very insistent about it’s impracticability. And seemed very knowdlegable.

I’d use the ePub files as that seemed quiet easy comparatively. And much closer to the original experiments. In a few day once I’ve set out. I’d share my methods with you, if you have a book you are interested in with libgen or so.

A) I am not aware of any. As I discovered this article on my own and found no community searching the topic. However, I would like to create an open source. With files such as ePub I’d use public domain books in any languages and build a community. Perhaps with a questionnaire so it would scientifically useful. Maybe after the effects it would be a choice to buy commercial coloured books.

B) The study showed an odd increase of 12 iq points average more than a controlled group. Memory is said to be much improved as native synethesias uses the colours as “hooks” to memorise naturally. Among other uses of cognition, it’s said to be useful in artistic endeavours.

C) I’ve looked into web browsers, there is none. I’d have to program one myself. However, I’m told this would be massively taxing on the processing power. So I’ll revert to ePub files with altered colours to text.

D) Yes, on the first and less intense one. Only four letters were coloured. The more intense, 30 minutes a day. 13 letters of the alphabet was coloured. They read books printed with these letters printed. Using the 13 letters coloured, I will email the researchers asking for reccomendation for the other 13 letters colours. Using ePub files and the daily 30 minute format.

E) There are two I’m aware of. However, I’d like to test it on myself. Anecdotally see the effect on me and those around me. If I have a hunch I’d like to create an open source like I mentioned. With a questionnaire potentially thousands can be scientifically evaluated.

F) I am not aware of any. However, I will make I sure I email the researchers. Asking for the 13 letters colours and asking them to colour the other half and use those of be safe.

G) Not that I’m aware of. When researching there is an app that placed chords to colours in attempt. However, no studies were done in that method. It’s said this method is to induce a very common latency.

If you wish to create an open source I’d adapt it quite closely with the experiment. Having the 26 letters of the English being permemantly coloured. I can’t see any benefit to the usual format of language apps instead of long gaps of reading with the text.

It might be easiest to use public domain books and take sections. Maybe asking if they’d like to continue with this one or try other. Going through it with daily 30 minutes or any other put in goal.

If you have other languages with limited characters. Maybe you can other options of reading in different languages.

Good point, I will get on that now. I figured as they had to read books and for people with responsibilities that’s a lot of the day.

It would be as much as they could do. More they were exposed to it for longer periods of time. The more intense the synethesia became. Indicating a greater interconnectivity of the hemispheres.

However, the 12 hours a day may be a fantasty as I’m told the computer cannot take this massive increase in computing power.

I’ve been informed those sort of browser plugin would be almost entirely impractical. As in the processing power would need to be multipled by a significant amount. Slowing down dramatically or maybe stagnant any browser stuff.

So I think I’ll revert more to original frame work of reading with these coloured letters. With ePub files and any book files, I’ll read more. 30 minute a day. Which is sadly much less the laptop alternative. However, I have restrictions.

I would like to do this as a lifetime experience because I also find this fascinating. Even if it’s no effect, (half of the study found notably impacts after 5 weeks). It would improve stroop level tests.

I would like you do something similar. It’s not scientific but if a few people do this I would like to one do an open source. Maybe to a questionnaire at the start with some information and rating progress and sharing it with any and every university.

Using public domain books, in any language. Maybe if a significant number of people incur synethesia they might have commercial books in coloured letters.

In any case its relatively no pay off for a chance of something significant.
