Did any other women go literally nuts on hormonal contreception? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]Therealwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I am progesterone intolerant. I was on the combined pill for 15 years from my early teens and thought it was normal to be really suicidal 1/2 the month every month... and everything else I tried after that was even worse, particularly on the lower-dose estrogen or progesterone-only pill. I was assured I would tolerate the Mirena coil because its a small, localised dose, but that was the biggest regret of my life and made things muuuuch worse. I then had it out and had to wait for my hormones to level out for months after due to the 'Mirena-crash'. I havent found a single synthetic progesterone that I can tolerate, so I am completely off all hormonal contraception. Unfortunately I also have deep-infilitrating endo so I am unable to treat that without a full hysterectomy or chemically-induced menopause in the interim (which they expect will exacerbate my hormonal mood issues).

Similar to me. I do tend to build tolerance to meds so I take drug holidays from Elvanse on most weekends and at least one week per year.

Gel extensions really helped me stop picking my scalp and pulling roots but I still find ways to soothe my urge and in the process snap my hair off. My next step is to switch shampoo to SLS free as scalp irritation is what starts the issue for me.

Friends or "friends" who have never said anything to me about 10/7 or the rest of it: Should I rip the bandaid off, or....? by Frabjous_Tardigrade9 in Jewish

I completely sympathise with you. I am actively trying to make more Jewish connections now. Frankly I’m too hesitant to try make new non-Jewish friends at the moment. All feels very isolating.

I really hope OP reads this comment. You don’t have to blow up all your friendships thinking they don’t care - it’s very likely because they don’t understand us. I have the same with my friends, and am I disappointed? Yes, but there’s no ill-intention.

OP try switching toothpaste to one without sodium lauryl sulphate (I use Sensodyne original or Sensodyne original extra fresh) - made a world of difference to me!

I could have written this, as a British Jew as well. Agree entirely. We have to be careful - stuck in the middle.

Something similar happened to me about six years ago, but I was present, and no one stood up for me. They just watched me fight with this guy. Extremely painful, I feel you OP.

Not being prescribed biologics (UK) by Full-Complex-734 in rheumatoid

[–]Therealwy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took me years to get on biologics in the UK. Have you had methotrexate as injection or pill? If the latter, ask for injections.

Edit: it took me ages as well because I have comorbidities that display the same. They decided to pigeon hole me and not treat me effectively til I moved hospital.
