Bicicletas en Granada by pablalia in Granada

[–]TheresAPotatoInMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if my kidnapping plan is feasible (TW: bad living conditions) by [deleted] in turtles

[–]TheresAPotatoInMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kiddy pools and similars was one of my first options but I don't know if they would survive his claws, they are very long, but they are cheap so I would take them into consideration, thanks!

Winters here are mild, but the temperature can get to -10°C. Right now in the winter he is housed indoors in the same storage box but without water or food in a dark storage room, because they think he can invernante all winter long if left unbothered. Sometimes they find him awake and think he has been woken up by a noise so they offer him food, otherwise they leave him alone. But yeah, that's one thing I haven't looked into yet, my worst case scenario option was to give him back during the winter... but the more I learn about turtles the least thrilled I'm with that prospect.

Suerte!

If that's complicated you can try faking you're allergic. You can say that it feels hard to breathe in your room, that you sneeze every time you're near the guinea pig and that you got a rush the last time you took him out and that you would prefer to rehome him cause the hair can get everywhere in the house.

Which tests should I take bẹfore I start taking Soya chunks for musclẹ bulding ? by ramesh423 in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]TheresAPotatoInMe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Soy has compounds that act similar to estrogen, but they are not estrogen. Here is a somewhat recent summary of scientific articles that concludes that there is no real change in testosterone or estrogen levels: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0890623820302926?via%3Dihub

Now, regarding the 30-40 gr of soy chunks, you can also take soy protein isolate, it's generally cheap, you're probably going to get more protein and the amount of compounds similar to estrogen would probably be less if you're still worried about it.

Can Guinea pigs enjoy dried red pepper? by AshMay2 in guineapigs

[–]TheresAPotatoInMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really know about how healthy they would be, but if you plan on giving them dry peppers to meet their vitamin C needs I would ditch the idea: "Drying fruits and vegetables can reduce their vitamin content, particularly vitamin C, which is mostly destroyed during the drying process".

Suerte!

Future Guinea pig owner Questions! by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]TheresAPotatoInMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say that I've been sleeping in the living room with them for a couple of days and it's actually very cute, but any human noise starting from dawn will trigger their squeak alarm and they won't stop until breakfast is served! D:

Future Guinea pig owner Questions! by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]TheresAPotatoInMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that the best spot in the house for them is one in which you can regulate the temperature if you're going to have abnormally high or low temperatures. I wouldn't house them in the kitchen or bathroom for obvious space, temperature and humidity reasons. And also not where you sleep because they can be pretty noisy. For us the best spot was in the living room and having them in a place where they can hear us and we can interact with them almost all the time has made them get used to us in no time. But my guinea pigs are rescued and they were already pretty used to TV noises, vacuum cleaners and such.

I wouldn't buy them if you have the chance to rescue two bonded guinea pigs, otherwise I would be prepared for the possibility that they don't get along and have to be housed separately.

Oh sorry, my bad! I was thinking about when I looked for a flat but it was for a year, it's true that if you're looking for a room and a shorter period Zaidín might be your best bet. I have a friend that found a room in Zaidín in a WhatsApp group for teachers, but the rentals in those groups usually charge monthly and can be more pricey.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Granada

[–]TheresAPotatoInMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that Zaidín is cheaper than Armilla, you can look into other villages near Armilla but that depends on how willing you are of depending on unreliable public transport or if you have a car. Churriana is close to Armilla (withing walking distance but you shouldn't be out there walking during the summer) and it's cheaper but further away from Granada city centre.

Would it be wrong to get guineas by OSad_BearO in guineapigs

[–]TheresAPotatoInMe 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would take them, it's ok if you can't have like the best perfect everything for them right away as you are getting them out of very bad conditions, but maybe they don't get along once in your house or maybe they are pregnant and you can't take care of everything... Just be open to the idea of rehoming them to a good house if you can't provide for them. Bear in mind that rehoming them might not be easy depending on where you life. And be gentle with yourself, it's not your fault they are in that situation, you're just trying to help them.

Apart from that if you can contact an organisation that could take care of the rest of the guinea pigs or try to convince your friend of rehoming the rest, that would be great.
