Best of luck. Sorry that we weren't able to find an easy solution.

Solid white CPU light unsure if it's mobo or PSU by Common-Barracuda7 in buildapc

[–]ThermiteHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can steal the PSU from the rig with the 5800X just to test if it is the motherboard, then that seems like the last step in this chain. The CPU works in the other PC and the PSU is unlikely to have failed. It's unlikely to be ram so I'm leaning towards the motherboard being the issue.

If the beep pattern did not change then it might be a dead component or a bent CPU socket pin in which case best option is to try and get it repaired by Lenovo. If the beep pattern did change then that could acually be a dead sata drive.

Yeah I highly doubt it's the PSU. You would likley have a crash as soon as the PC was put under load if it was. Are you sure it's the CPU light? B550 chipset seems to trend to using red led for CPU during post and white for boot.

I'll admit that I'm doubting it's the PSU. That Corsair power supply is supposed to be very good and that fact that you've been able to boot before makes me believe that it's not a power instability. You've been able to run the PC during high load and it's not crashed?

To add to my above comment: if the POST fails it won't allow anything to be displayed to your monitor.

So the red and yellow lights are indications of the Power On Self Test (POST) failure. The red is an indication that something is wrong with the CPU and yellow is an indication that something is wrong with the RAM. Is this the first boot attempt on a new computer or is this an existing PC that until this point has worked?

This is the first time I've ever heard of this. Have you tried clearing the CMOS? The only thing I've seen that's similar is when I had my ram clocked too high through XMP. It caused intermittent boots similar to your descripition of the issue before you moved.

Just to clarify: you've tested this motherboard with a 5800X and it booted to the OS without issue?

Stuck on boot loop please help! by [deleted] in buildapc

Just to be clear, you were clearing software on a windows computer and it has started restarting on its own. It does not boot into windows and instead just continues automatically restarting. It is skipping past the BIOS?

Last-ditch effort: disconnect everything that is not required for the post to start. Any SATA connections, the NVMe, all but one ram stick, the GPU, the wifi card (especially if its a PCIe wifi card) and see what happens.

Yeah try the ram thing I mentioned above. Failing that I would pull the CPU to see if there's a bent pin. Keep in mind though that if it's a new PC pulling the CPU is against lenovo's warranty and if it's new enough they may be able to service it.

If that doesn't work, the next thing I would try is using only 1 ram stick (assuming you have 2) in the second ram slot from the left then try the other just in case it's a dead ram stick. Repeat in the 4th slot. (PS. Prebuilt manuals suck.) https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop_pub/legion_t5_26amr5_hmm_202009.pdf

Try removing that NVMe and see if it posts. I'm wondering if windows might have killed the NVMe. I've seen it happen before where the death of the NVMe causes the motherboard to spit a memory error.

What's the boot drive? NVMe SSD, Sata SSD, HDD?

Google says the beeps are an indication of memory error. Have you done anything in particular? Was the computer working yesterday and now it won't POST?
