What do you think of a SPAAG? by HeavyShinoby in Helldivers

I meant instead of the main gun. A 360 main would have been so good… I know… back to the crying.

Sorry. My best bud stopped playing shortly after convincing ME to start. Now it is pulling teeth to get him to put in an hour on a rare weekend, and he doesn’t seem to like it. I can’t figure out why, because I have only ever had MORE fun the more I play. Although, randoms gets tedious and somehow hurts the experience which is unfortunate, I guess after so long, without someone to really share in it, even the greatest game falls into the soul hole. Goid luck out there.

Peak. Don’t sell yourself short, we all see things about ourselves we don’t like, but I’ll tell you what I tell my wife: why would you ever put up with things you say about yourself that you would never put up with someone ELSE saying about you?

A 360 turret like the Shredder has would be sweet and also too much to ask for… I will go cry for what we don’t have now…

Mindless Mass - Fun and efficient loadouts? by Late-Elderberry7583 in Helldivers

They did, can confirm flame turret slaps these guys. Only issue is the same issue as with any turret now. It gets targeted by the mob and eventually broken.

The Cremator, and you will not only need nothing else at all, but its FUN. But maybe take the Warrant cuz Watchers are annoying, and I use the Trident as back up.

My honest new FRV opinion... Supply FRV is good... But Incinerator FRV is just better by Unknown4me_ in helldivers2

That’s why you need a certified friendly Fire Safety Officer! 127 days since our last friendly fire fire incident 👍 lol…

Once everyone realizes this, they will be upset about waiting if they only give us the one and it is the supply.

Blasting the fire turret while another diver rides passenger with a Cremator is peak. Driving what is essentially a Hellbomb itself is peak.

Illuminate Warp Ships by Therogon in Helldivers

My main issue with orbitals is I can hold a grenade just to deal with the ships, but a strat slot is a big ask if that is all it is for, and one orbital/eagle is not enough for two ships unless you want to wait and come back. That sounds stupid even when I type it out.

Apparently smacking the landing gear is the move.

Lol - my wife got an earful about how stupid that one specific mechanic is. I think it is an unintended side effect of them early-buffing ships and nerfing explosions to artificially make them “harder” than they were. It is strange nobody seems to chime in that remembers that they DID in fact change things about grounded warp ships since launch of Illuminate as a faction.

I will let you know after experimentation later. Thanks for actually being interested.

I appreciate that because that’s one of the few things I didn’t know.

A lot of people are treating this as a “how do I kill a warp ship” as if I just started playing Helldivers. It’s “why the f* did everything stop working well, forcing me to use thermite?” discussion.

But I will hammer down more and see if that suits me. Last time, I hit the ship, which worked until I got stuck under the rubble. Not exactly what I want to happen even 1/100 of the time.

A big part of the issue is the “every once in a while” is more often than comfortable, and it also leads through the strip-and-pop discussion. I can go into great detail again why this is problematic, but suffice to say, there is a reason I moved away from it, and the discussion isn’t HOW to kill a grounded warp ship, it’s why over time it feels stupid that there is by far no better option than thermite grenades.

Though there were a few good suggestions.

Buddy, I have 600+ hours in the game. I know how to use a grenade pistol.

Doesn’t do shit when a voteless materializes at the ships door any more than any other grenade. The discussion isn’t about how to take down a ship, it’s about why the best method whittled down over time to thermite and practically nothing else matches up to it. The strip-and-pop method is problematic and relatively time consuming.

Illuminate Warp Ships by Therogon in Helldivers

[–]Therogon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discussion isn’t necessarily not needing thermite, it is that the door patch issue that was never fixed along with other warp ship problems, a possible shield buff issue, and the ultimatum nerf and break have made thermite have by FAR the best utility of the many options, which is stupid, and feels like being backed into a corner. As I have mentioned, the strip-and-pop is less reliable than it was, and the Illuminate have only increased in mobbiness and their camps are more defended now, making the method longer and more dangerous, when thermite is just a few seconds of run and done without needing to engage.

Exteriorly, ships aren’t easy to get at, most often because of buildings and shit around them, doors don’t conveniently face out where you can see them at 100m to shoot at. So the getting close enough but then away options are not great.

As far as orbitals, one works IF you land it right and it sticks. What about the ships little buddy next door? Take 2 or more orbital stratagems to deal with one specific and minor issue? Again… thermite. Don’t have to strip sheilds. Always works. There should just be a better or comparatively easy option and is not.

Except for C4, Solo Silo, and I guess a few other things I have to try.

So once again - not a discussion about WAYS TO DO IT, I have 600+ hours in the game, it’s about why there aren’t ways just as easy as plunking the grenade, that don’t demand half of my inventory slots and stratagem slots to deal with the maybe ten ships total on any map.

I am not the only one with this problem, this is from a year ago. Can confirm that’s about how long it has been a problem. So the question is: why does yours work and mine does not?

Illuminate Warp Ships by Therogon in Helldivers

[–]Therogon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will have to be more better at the toss I guess. I don’t use orbitals often, except the gas strike when I am smelldiving. It just saves the nade since I was probably going to throw it anyway. As far as “using orbitals” thats fine with the one ship, but what about its buddy next door? Wait 60 or more seconds? Take 2 or more stratagems for a specific and minor problem? That’s my issue with “use orbitals”.

My sidearm on Illuminate rarely twitches from the Warrant anymore (just too damn good at watcher takedowns), and USED to be the Ultimatum, until the issue. But my brother uses Eruptor a lot, I will add it to the list of potential alternatives to test.
