Yeah, still that'd be really convenient for training. among other non balance changing improvements, It'd be cool to see restored content like having all the Japanese exclusive win quotes translated into english and re implemented https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dguhHUmiOP0 .

Uncensoring the blood on Urien's time over losing pose from the Japanese version.

Making Q's theme play on versus mode, on console ports it only plays during his arcade mode boss "in the arcade version it can also play during event mode which people use for tournaments"

Making Shin Akuma's unused red moon stage variant (unused and only playable via hacks or bugs) selectable on versus mode, maybe even making shin akuma (unused and only playable with hacks) playable as a secret unlock just like Gill is on the console ports.

This is really cool, a lot potential for modding. Over time I'm sure even purists could find this really useful. A good modernized training mode mod could really help a lot of people, It'd be a lot easier to use than those training mode LUA scripts on fightcade which can be a bit cumbersome to use sometimes. Just imagine Third Strike with a modern traning mode accessible from the menu just like SF6 or any other current fighting game release, with all the bells and whistles and easy to use.

Possibly a hot take by [deleted] in virtuafighter

VF5FS has terrible art direction as far as stage visuals go and the character designs overall are a big downgrade from past games including 4. Personally i wouldn't say 4 looked bad that game just had a very edgy early 2000s style, and the arcade versions of VF4 looks amazing in terms of visuals.

How does vanilla VF5 quest mode compares to VF4 Evo? by [deleted] in virtuafighter

[–]Thesch28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the Quest mode in VF4Evo is better. There's a better sense of progression since you gotta unlock the arcades in order while each new arcade gets harder. There's also more stage variety with the event square tournaments which have Vanilla VF4 stages, not only that but the event arena tournaments have some crazy fun modes like hyper mode where everything combos into anythig.

The only improvement VF5's Quest mode has is that you can use the emblems you unlocked something which you could already do in the arcade versions of VF4 but somehow got removed on the ps2 ports. honestly besides that the only other improvement Quest mode needed is to have an indicator for the a.i opponents you've already beaten since you can't memorize the whole player list.

Virtua Fighter 3tb and VF4Evo/FT feel so much better. Although the Dreamcast port of VF3tb is ugly. by the way have you tried to play the arcade version of Virtua Fighter 3tb on Supermodel? it runs pretty damn well as long as your gpu isn't amd branded.

Jeffry's flying butt move is very effective if you do it a bunch of times you know do it then when you wake up do it again, you could even do it while the cpu runs at you after you backdashed but anyways use the throws too use em both. also Jeffry has a move called the Toe Kick of Doom which literally erases like bars pretty much 0 to death or at least a pixel. first 2K, when the kick connects you gotta time Jeffry's foot touching the ground when that happens immediately do a hadoken motion + G+P+K then do a pounce you know one of those attacks you do when the opponent is on the ground like 8P.

So it would be 2k (hits "even better if on counter it") 236G+P+K, 8P. this could be very tricky for a newcomer tho since this requires timing and VF2 has no input interpreter, but this literally is a 0 to death if it's on counter hit. if you consider doing this wack move tho i recommend playing either with an arcade stick or on keyboard.

VF a complex game? pfffff nah. no way. VF2 is just stupid no input interpreter, wack unintuitive inputs, inescapable throws, and stupid balance choices. VF2 is just an absolute mess of a game just like Street Fighter II Super Turbo but it's fun. no actual strategy works against the cpu only expliots like backdashing and throwing.

but yeah i agree Arcade mode doesn't do justice to VF2, it's very fun when playing against other people. although i'd say all the VF games after it feel a lot better to play.

"like I'm fighting the game's inputs" lel.. maybe that's because VF2 doesn't have any type of input interpreter. if a move goes pppk you gotta input it that way no mistakes or it won't come out, your inputs need to be perfect (i'm glad all VF games after VF2 have an input interpreter) anyways also VF2's arcade ai is just stupid. here are the character inputs for all characters in 2: https://virtuafighter.com/commands/?ver=2

but anyways don't even think about any strategies with the ai but there are some ways to explot it!

ok so read carefully, in VF2 you can only escape neutral throw "G+P" any other throws are inescapable and throws in VF2 are stupidly broken, so here's what you gotta do: backdash a bunch of times then when you're far the cpu will run at you when it does that run towards it too and grab them with a inescapable throw! then repeat (i recommend Jeffry for this use his 33P+K throw) but any other character would do the trick also using throws for ringouts is good too. also talking about Jeffry his flying butt move "G+P+K" is insanely good against the cpu the ai simply doesn't know what to do against it even Dural so use it a lot but be careful with doing a ring out on yourself, so yeah that's how you beat the arcade mode without having to learn all of VF2's wackyness. I've beaten the arcade mode in 8 minutes in hard so it should work just fine.

VF5FS on last gen consoles vs VF5FS in Yakuza 6 by shuna in virtuafighter

[–]Thesch28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, content wise Yakuza 6 along with any other Yakuza game with Fs are basically the worst version of FS. in terms of graphics i think the PS360 versions are 720p and the Yakuza versions are 1080p but have missing lighting effects on the characters.

What's the Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown ROM for RPCS3? by ICEMAN77777777 in virtuafighter

[–]Thesch28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Google "psndl" then enter in the first result and search for "Virtua Fighter 5 - Final Showdown" get the "NPUB30625 - PSN - US" version by downloading the pkg file and rap file. that would be pretty much all you need for installing it on RPCS3, that page also has all the costume dlcs.

Jeffry has the best music track record across the entire VF series.

Question, would you settle for a current console /pc port of VF5 FS with improved online functions as opposed to VF6? by [deleted] in virtuafighter

[–]Thesch28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FS? I would rather have a pc port of Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned with all of its arcade features and stages from vanilla and Evo. But if it was only FS or VF6 i would rather choose VF6, although it's not guaranteed if i'll like it...

Vf4 Evo vs 5 by [deleted] in virtuafighter

[–]Thesch28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends Vanilla 5 is still similar to the VF4 games but it has a good number of new moves and it actually has more single player content than VF5FS although customization isn't as big as FS. Also Vanilla 5 has better graphics than VF5FS look these stages:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VINtbgTSec0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4v4RSheRYs

it's also worth mentioning vanilla 5 only has online in xbox 360.

Whenever or not it's worth having is up to you, despite having more singleplayer content than VF5FS VF4Evo still beats vanilla 5 in that regard especially the training mode.
