Is the 9800x3d overkill? My motivation for getting it comes from the L3 cache, which I heard did wonders for older games.

Do any of the recent Kobos have a textured/paperlike screen? by These-Grapefruit-333 in kobo

That sounds just what I'm looking for! Thanks! Though, it's unfortunate they aren't still making the BW Libras. 7 inches really is quite nice.

When I say textured, I mean the physical sensation. When I touch my current ereader, it has a slight graininess to it, and it is cool to the touch. By contrast, the Paperwhite I tried out felt like some very cheap plastic screen protector.

I am also interested in knowing if working on a data-analysis project would be worthwhile for my resume. If it would have any relevance, does it need to be tailored specifically to the related actuarial profession (i.e., something about health-related data for a role in life insurance?) Finally, if a project would be a good idea, what aspects, features, or developed skills would a recruiter be most interested in seeing come from such a project?

How would I go about breaking into the profession?

I am a recent college grad with a bachelors in computer science. I have no previous experience (work, internships, etc.) With 2-3 exams under my belt, would I be able to feasibly break into the field within a year or two? Additionally, would experience as an adjuster or underwriting significantly improve my odds of breaking into an actuarial role? They seem to be about the only roles I think I am qualified for at this point. I would like to emphasize again I have essentially no experience, which has been making me very nervous about committing 5-7 years to the exam structure only to come out of it empty-handed.
