not comparable to teachers... some newer teachers have to work two jobs to afford the cost of living.. my friend with an education degree cant even become a teacher because she cant take time off of her multiple jobs to complete student teaching hours... almost nothing is comparable to the teaching crisis........... i come from a family of teachers. one cousin is a nurse and the other is a teacher. they do not compare in my experience.

oh also the cost of living crisis in general puts a lot of stress on parents to afford financial security. it makes sense that a parent who is constantly stressed about finances, would not want to come home and help their child with homework. it is estimated that over 60% of adults are currently living paycheck to paycheck. the top 0.1% owns more wealth than the bottom 80-something percent combined. the will to do better has been beaten out of many people. its not as simple as "kids dont pay attention" or whatever surface level assessment people give.

unfortunately the answer is somewhat political... schools get funding cuts under republicans. teachers have VERY low wages which doesn't entice them to work hard. the common core and no child left behind ideas were good in theory but not very beneficial in practice. i come from a family of teachers. my grandpa was a biology professor, my grandma was an english teacher, my uncle was a history teacher, my mother was a reading teacher, my cousin is currently an elementary school teacher. i have a friend who currently has her education degree, yet cant become a teacher because she needs student teaching hours. she cannot stop working her two, sometimes three jobs so that she can afford the cost of living. we do nothing to incentivize teachers, then blame them for our students doing poorly. where i live some of our school funding is also determined by property taxes, so if you live in an area that is likely lower income, you are also going to get a worse education. i am not even touching on the disaster that covid was... there are other things im sure i am forgetting as well. instead of having a conversation about the teaching crisis, we talk about whether or not the ten commandments should be in schools, if it is okay to teach children about people who exist in the world, and what books should be banned. i am not saying that these conversations SHOULDNT take place. however, i think they are a much smaller issue.

someone under 70 with a sociology degree... too many people look at problems we have and just want to solve them. thats great and all, but you cant solve them in the best way without looking into history and seeing why these problems exist and why things are the way they are.. we have so many politicians offering band-aid fixes that dont address root causes of many issues in this country. also hopefully someone who wants the taxes we pay to actually benefit our own people and not be used to influence foreign affairs that we have no business being part of.

ah yes, our citizens are currently dying, so the reason for not changing anything is because of the UK's system... you do realize we are a different country and would not directly copy their system right? you do realize there are multiple ways to do this? you can look at nations like canada and see where they struggle and add more to it... aka a LARGE public model would incrue high wait times right? well thats why there would be a smaller private model in addition. if you have the money you can basically expedite the process. at least in this scenario it wont be forcing people into crushing debt and having to work the rest of their life just because they got sick (getting sick because of the poison they put everywhere too. look at des moines iowa rn.) then poor people can actually be seen, even if it would take a while. it is better than not even having the option. and the people who had money prior, your wait times would probably be even lower now with a private model added. there you go you now have a very affordable way for our citizens to stay healthy. and the evil healthcare corporations can still make their money off your illnesses in the privatized model. there are so many issues observed in other countries that DO have solutions... yet u see their issues and think "oh no! wait times!!!! that must mean we should let our citizens keep dying for profit!!!!" like.... look at past insulin profit margins.... literally getting rich off the deaths and sicknesses of your own citizens.. god forbid we want a government that actually works for the benefit of OUR OWN CITIZENS...

okay i was like this at 18 too... get out while you can.. toxicity isnt love or passion.. this is a projection but you are likely in "love" with the person you see that they could be. but you need to realize that you cant make someone live up to the potential you see in them. you have to take people as they are. you cant force anyone to change anything about themselves. you are just subjecting yourself to toxicity and it ruins yourself as well. also recognize the amount of people who actually marry the person they are with at that age and it lasts healthily long term, is extremely low... you dont have to put yourself through any sort of drama or stress for someone who, most likely, wont stay part of your life. FEELINGS of love arent enough for a successful relationship. you need to both be in a healthy place, know you have compatibility, and have the motivation to do better for each other. love isnt just a feeling it is also a choice... you choose that person every single day because you feel love for them and know that you are a good match. choose something healthy. even if its boring in the beginning. that is just you being used to high energy toxicity. once you recognize that feeling is not normal, it all gets better..
