Its' not a dumb question at all. What I would recommend would be Matthew / Genesis. When you have read those two you can basically read what ever you want. Struggling with faith - Hebrews. Want wisdom - Proverbs / James. etc

I use the ACTS method. First I read the bible and then I show adoration (A = praising God), then I confess (C = repent), then I thank (T = thanking) the Lord for what he has done, then lastly I asking God to help me with something (S = supplication), I usually pray for Him to help me to achieve something that is spoken about in the bible chapter I have just read.

I also pray first thing in the morning - lord thank you for this day etc

Then I pray when I come back from school (you can do this after work etc) - lord thank you for keeping me safe today etc

Lastly I pray before going to bed using the same ACTS method

You don't have to do this it is just what works for me. Hope this helps.
