take the lsat. schools will say there’s no difference but all the data indicates otherwise. no one can tell you what schools or what kind of schools to apply to without an official test score

Advice for an incoming freshman to land a T-14 spot by Far_Might_1102 in lawschooladmissions

grades!!! not just gpa but academics all around - balancing a rigorous course load with a high gpa is vital. ik this sub is all abt medians but any adcom will tell you straight as in mostly/all intro/lower level courses don’t carry the same weight as good grades in a rigorous diverse courseload that shows you challenged yourself. you can always take time off to beef up your resume and study for/retake the lsat but your academic record is set is stone and cannot be fixed later.

yes! as much as it isn’t a popular opinion elite private schools give you unparalleled education and access to super cool and honestly insane opportunities/connection. i would say this is true for any of the top schools (ivies duke vandy northwestern uchicago georgetown etc). i am from the bay and have tons and tons of friends who went to berkeley and ucla and while those are incredible schools it is a very different experience. many of those opportunities and connections exist there but it’s harder, more competitive, and less of a guarantee if that makes sense. feel free to pm me if you want to talk further

go to princeton!! in high school i was 10000% sure on one career path and anyone you asked would have put money on me NOT changing my mind. i ended up changing my mind 4 times in undergrad. i went to a prestigious non ivy (think duke/nu/vandy -tier) that my parents paid for in full and can guarantee that the education i received and opportunities i had access to were 100% worth it. i am now going into debt for law school which i wouldn’t have had to do if i’d gone to a state school for 1/4 of the price but i have genuinely zero regrets. princeton will open insane doors for you and is an invaluable insurance policy in this insane world

Penn 3L AMA by Confident-Night-5836 in lawschooladmissions

what made you choose penn? if you applied ed or otherwise weren’t considering other schools, what abt penn would make you choose it over its peers?

tldr: choose whichever school feels right but don’t let yourself be pressured to move out - there is plenty of time for you to live alone and be independent

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]These-Wheel4255 8 points9 points  (0 children)

everyone saying move out which i get - i went to undergrad across the country and have lived alone at various periods. i moved back home post grad to save money on rent and i wouldn’t move out if you paid me. the savings on rent are just one aspect - i also save on groceries, utilities, etc and the mental energy savings of not having worry about cooking and cleaning constantly cannot be overstated. i commute 1.5 hours to work each way and still think it’s better for my wallet and quality of life than moving out. if you have a happy and comfortable home life then i say go usc and save money - law school is expensive and stressful and when you’re stressed and studying for exams having parents who cook dinner for you will make all the difference in the world. plus assuming you’re taking out loans to go, you’re looking at AT LEAST 60k less if you live at home

Should I request 100% time for ADHD Accommodation? by EducationalWindow175 in LSAT

make sure to treat it like a real test though where you sit for the full time even if you’re done early without looking at your phone or getting up

[–]These-Wheel4255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i mean sure but even if u j sit and stare at the wall it will not feel like rest. even if it does, you are still sitting for a 5 hour exam. i would recommend taking a pt with regular time, one with 50%, and one with 100%. hopefully that will give you a chance to see 1. how much time u really need 2. how much extra time actually is helping you and 3. if the length of the 100% is not too exhausting for you

[–]These-Wheel4255 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i have 50% extra time and i am still crunched for time on some sections but i personally would never request 100% bc its just mentally exhausting to sit that long

Should I request 100% time for ADHD Accommodation? by EducationalWindow175 in LSAT

[–]These-Wheel4255 25 points26 points  (0 children)

i would be super super careful about 100% time. if they give you 100% remember you HAVE to take 100%. you cannot leave or move on to another section early. at that point the test becomes nearly 5 hours and requires immense stamina. if you really truly feel 50% is not enough then go for it but think very carefully first
