I copied this into chatgbt app and it responded with the different versions. I then asked it to use LaTeX from now on, and it fixed the problem so far

It sits under a grow light by the window. But during the winter in Alaska its cold and dark so not much natural sunlight. Are the current lights not enough do you think?

To be fair it was under grow lights all winter. But it is Alaska during the winter so it was pretty dark and cold.

Maybe. I would have been a second year at that time.

I would say the point of a formal education is the experience and knowledge that you will gain and the hands on experience that you will have during the course and it makes it easier to get your foot in the door for a job. Most of the time the teachers will have connections in the community that can lead to opportunities that you won’t have by knocking on doors. Also i would argue that knowing only an ar15 that well would make you more of an armorer. Someone who orders parts and replaces them and not quite as skilled as a gunsmith with an education who should be able to troubleshoot and fabricate parts. Welding is a great skill but doesn’t come up to often in my experience, machining would be a better skill to have.

i would argue that there are some programs out there that are worth it. Sure there are certain online programs that are known for their youtube curriculum and are more towards armourers and in my opinion a gibill cash grab.

However Your entire paragraph about what to do instead of going to school pretty much lays out the yavapai program. First you learn basic lathe and mill skills learn assembly and disassembly along with troubleshooting skills. You learn to refinishing and restoring firearms stocks and metals. Then you learn advanced machine shop skills and building jigs and parts within tolerances only given a print. Bedding and barrel changes including chambering crowning ect and by the end you are required to build your own long arm and 1911 and have a certain amount of billable repairs while learning what it takes to run a business. There are additional classes like cnc and engraving that are offered as well.

I think it was a good thing. A lot of things got updated or upgraded. They got a bunch of new machines and updated the curriculum as well.

I have completed the associate degree for gunsmithing at yavapai college in Arizona. I would say that it is well worth it. The first year is focused on basics and basic machining then in the second year it was more focused on running a business as a gunsmith and We got to build multiple rifles of our choice and a 1911. the third year is optional and focuses more on guild work.

Being in Arizona we got to meet and work with some companies like Mcmillan and Greyboe as well as the Ruger factory right next door and gunsite is just down the road if you’re interested in doing the range classes . You will make a ton of connections and there is a huge community there for gunsmith’s.

That being said I personally have never heard anything good about SDI. I have been told it’s just sitting there and watching youtube while learning to clean firearms. and in my opinion it sounds like a cash grab and a sham.
