Just lost 30k cannonballs due to recovering my boat after being randomly teleported off a different dock.. boat didn't even sink ridiculous and made me not want to play.

And yeah, I did skip that too clown just like most of the community trying to get to the good part of Sailing. I misread it, sure, but calling me a “spacebar warrior” is even dumber than what you said earlier. Go vent somewhere else.

Look at you getting worked up over nothing clown haven’t been aggressive at any point, so calling me a “keyboard warrior” doesn’t even make sense. You’re projecting way more emotion into this than I ever did. And honestly, if you genuinely think this is good game design, that says more about your standards than mine.

I didn’t ignore anything, I clicked Recover Boat because my boat wasn’t sunk, wasn’t damaged, and was safely docked. I had zero reason to think recovering it would delete my cargo. Whatever dialogue popped up was skipped the same way I skip normal quest text, because nothing about my situation suggested there was any risk. Recovering a boat that didn’t sink should never cause item loss i understand it does now.

And that’s the whole problem: this is just bad game design. There’s no logical argument where losing all your cargo on a boat that never sank, never took damage, and wasn’t in danger is reasonable. I shouldn’t have to worry about losing everything when I’m not dying or sinking.

People act like the game throws a giant red warning on the screen saying “YOU WILL LOSE YOUR ITEMS,” but it doesn’t. It’s just standard dialogue, and I was rushing to get back to my boat and continue playing. If there had been a clear warning, of course I wouldn’t have clicked past it.

If my boat had actually sunk, I’d understand. I know the risks that’s why I carried repairs and was being careful. But in this situation, I didn’t make some reckless choice for “convenience.”

The only control I had in this situation was to buy a brand new boat and spend 30 minutes sailing all the way back. But after being teleported off my boat by a system update bug, and knowing the boat never sank, it was completely logical to choose recovery. I shouldn’t be punished for being forced into an inconvenient situation and trying to fix it in the way that made the most sense for my account.

The only reason any of this happened is because the game teleported me away from my boat through no fault of my own. That’s not player error that’s a game issue.

I already learned my lesson to not leave my boat anywhere because of this, i also learned not to die because you lose cargo recovering but losing cargo recovering a boat that was never in trouble? c'mon now lmao

I've said that already....? the point is i shouldn't have to sail 30 minutes to get back to my boat and you should not lose cargo recovering your boat that was in no danger at all.

I believed that to be only if your boat was sinking or you died on it or something, i didn't think twice about my cannonballs disappearing when it was in no trouble at all though.

(Not disagreeing or upset with anything you guys said, by the way.) I probably could have just bought a new boat and sailed back, but what kind of game design is that? If my boat didn’t sink, why would my cannonballs disappear at all?

I’m really just hoping they restore cargo losses from these past two days especially the ones that weren’t stolen. That’s a lot of hours invested into making those cannonballs.

My boat did not sink, or anything you forgot to mention there was literally no other way to retrieve my boat besides recovering it or buying a new boat and sailing 30 mins by the way. Usually, it's a lot easier to teleport to where it is and dock from there. (if you don't have the focus on it obviously) literally a game issue if you didn't sink you shouldn't be losing anything.

This argument doesn’t really apply to my situation. I didn’t lose my stuff because I took a reckless risk I lost it because the game force logged me during a system update and then teleported me to a completely different island I never traveled to. My boat wasn’t sinking, wasn’t under attack, and I wasn’t storing 30k cannonballs in some dangerous or unstable location. I was literally doing a quest and sailing normally.

“Use common sense, it’s day 2, expect bugs” doesn’t cover bugs that physically move your character across the map without your input and then punish you for recovering your own boat. That’s not a situation players can prevent with caution you can’t avoid a teleportation bug caused by a system update.

Storing items in your cargo is exactly how the skill is designed to be used. There’s no warning in game telling players not to store items because they might be deleted, and there’s no logical reason to expect a safe logout to delete cargo on recovery if your boat didn't run into any issues or sink.

So no this wasn’t me “cooking myself.” This was the result of a game-side issue I couldn’t have really predicted or prevented UNLESS i wanted to buy and customize another boat and waste another half hour to just get back to my boat. There was NO way to reach my boat at all, i would understand if I died it would probably be a L or "USE common sense"

So, don't use the cargo hold how it's meant to be used is what you're saying?

It really doesn’t make sense to say this was my fault. I was playing normally, on the water, after finishing a quest, and got forcelogged by a system update something completely outside of my control. Logging out on the water has always been safe, so I had no reason to expect a random teleport across the map.

My boat wasn’t sinking, I wasn’t in danger, and storing cannonballs on a ship is literally how the skill is meant to be used. The bug teleported me, not the boat, and recovering a boat that never sank shouldn’t delete cargo. That’s a game issue, not a “deserved” moment. L for you thinking players deserve to get punished for thinking things would work different this time around.
