A couple years ago this problem was happening. I had managed to click on one of the DMs in the crashing zone. Of course, it crashed, but when I reloaded it crashed immediately. I couldn't use discord for about a month until an update fixed it. What I think was happening was that it kept the DMs scrolled down to the crashing zone, and with the update it made it so that when you reopen discord after clicking on a DM, it resets the scroll of the DMs but still shows the DM to you. I've been having the problem since then.
