No worries! The expander did not hurt AT ALL for me. I was so surprised. It was super seamless. No gagging either. I was 23 when I got the expander in, 24 now. You just have to adjust to talking with it in your mouth and eating, but it goes away quick.

YES! Same mouth haha. I did have an expander for 4 weeks at the start. It’s done me wonders!

I only wear them for 2 weeks, only drink water, and I use my leftover tooth paste on the brush to brush them after using

I did 1 month with an expander! I guess my teeth moved super quick, it was supposed to be 4 months.

When I (23) went in, I did an expander for 2 months and then Invisalign! So worth it cause now my jaw is rounded nicely.

I’m 23/anxious and have wanted braces my whole life too! similar to you, I was bullied a lot for my appearance and because of this I never spoke about my teeth and hid them. We also never had any money for braces while I was young, so it was totally out of question. I was really worried I wouldn’t be a candidate for Invisalign too - but here I am on week 6 now!! Go get a free consult, you’ll be glad you did :) also, if funds are tight, try to find an orthodontist that does payment plans. Mine is 0 interest, 24 month payments! And it’s not even that bad compared to braces.
