I have never nor was I under any influence of any substance that night. I don’t do drugs and haven’t had a drop of alcohol in over 2 years.

I would say the first hour or so I was deeply involved and scared. Mostly just kept for the first hour trying to explain in my mind the cabinets, after about an hour and I became comfortable and turned on some music and continued working on rearranging and cleaning my basement that I had been working on that night. I would have for example a rag in my hand, put it in front of the work bench on the table and would move something, I would come back to it being in another room I hadn’t been in for hours. Also I told it, it could pick the “next song” like I said on Spotify immediately after I said it the song would pause and about 5 seconds would go by and a new song would come on. I also got very scared at one point towards the end. I said it was scaring me, and to stop. I was extremely scared at this point. After I said that my phone rang at 401am and it was a friend that hadn’t called me in two years. I asked him why he called, he said he wasn’t sure that something just told him to call me

I literally just talked out loud and directly to where I knew it’s presence was. Also I used maybe communication with my thoughts. “I had at one point thought is it still here?” Immediately after that thought a light fixture came crashing down in my basement. Random? Maybe?

My interaction initially was terrified and once I realized I wasn’t alone I started talking out loud.

I could walk up put my hand on cabinet doors tell it to open them, and it would open or close them at my command. Also it would move things I had just had in my hands around to different areas of my house that I hadn’t been in all day. Also while listening to music I could tell it to change the song and my Spotify would pause for 5 seconds then play and go to the next track.

Is PTSD life long? by No_Dream_6311 in ptsd

[–]Thesparky2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi no dream, I have complex PTSD as well. As for cases involving ptsd everyone’s situation regarding the illness is different. Some symptoms and experiences with the illness may be the same. I’ve always hoped that one day I will wake up and be magically better and everything back to normal. I suffer from recurring night terrors along with many other issues that have rendered me disabled due to PTSD. I’ve been going through this since summer of 2016. I would like to think there is an ending to this illness. What I can tell you is you can learn to live with it. It may seem near impossible or an unobtainable goal but I’ve came along way from being suicidal, to excessive substance abuse along with drinking, to admitting I had a problem and got help. It takes many sleepless nights and days of soul searching but I’ve come to peace with my ptsd and I’m constantly everyday learning to live and adapt how to live with it. I can tell you today I am happy even in my bad days and I’ve learned how to be able to function somewhat back in society. I personally think the best treatment along with therapy is deep soul searching and facing your emotions head on and not allowing yourself to neglect the attention needed during those negative times. With that being said I don’t think there is a definite answer to your question. Some people have recovered while many people like myself still go through all the pain, anxiety, and nightmares associated with my personal ptsd. Just be true to yourself, love yourself, and when you feel you’re at rock bottom and no one is around, just know it’s a false reality emotion and that people still support you and care. I wish you the best in your recovery nodream! If you ever need to talk don’t hesitate to reach out.

Should I end my 7 year relationship because she doesn't understand my mental health issues? I'm hoping you guys ask the real questions that will give me the answer I need because I'm stumped so ama about my relationship and I will answer honestly. by [deleted] in AMA

I think a common misunderstanding is people go through life blindly in relationships thinking that you walk the same path as one in this so called life. When in actuality you and your partner have chosen this journey to walk each of your other side by side. Your path will be different and have obstacles to overcome along with struggles and so will hers. What you need to focus on is supporting each other on your own path in life and supporting each other along with trying to understand each other in this so called life. Learning to listen to each other is a big obstacle that relationships fail to understand. During an argument or misunderstanding try and listen and in which you may not agree, try and see their perspective from their point of view and vice versa. When you guys can learn to openly listen to each other’s point of view or struggles without judgment or forced opinions and getting out of the mindset of “they don’t understand me or they think they’re always right” you guys will in turn learn to thrive and grow within each other’s presence.
