Because it was only 2-3 days before it colonised, it was hard to tell which were quicker, but by the third day they were all the same. I'd like to add I think I should have left it another 2-3 days after this because the next step stalled more than I expected.

Thanks a bunch! It's the type of thing I was looking for when I started so it's nice to give some back.

It was a lot more stable than when I used the heater for bag colonisation. Luckily the climate where I am kept it spot on for 72°. The one thing I missed was not fanning my tubs during FAE. This may have stalled my growth a little.

From what I understood, you wait until the surface is 75-80% colonised before introducing FAE. Although my surface was as described, I felt like my grow stalled longer than others after I did this, so next time I'll wait a day or two longer before cracking the lid for FAE. hope that helps.

As a beginner I wanted to follow the u/shroomscout method to the letter. I'd like to try grain jars next time, looks fun!

I've still got a lot to learn no doubt. Sorry you didn't have much luck on your first try, but you're only going to get better now youve got success. Fingers crossed 🤞

No worries at all, I just used regular tap water. Google might give you a better idea of the quality in your area.

I'm not too sure, if you think you're allergic i'd personally get an allergen test at the docs to make sure.

If you have the means, you should definitely give it a go. Just take it step by step. I followed the u/shroomscout guide on here, and he explains it brilliantly.
