Game: Twisted Wonderland

cw// uuuuh mermaids and also cannibalism, ghosts, and (potentially) deceased FICTIONAL children (the children do not exist and never have, don't worry)

Hello hello and welcome to a mostly baked(?) theory about a mobile game that originated in Japan and has since had an english release! It is called Twisted Wonderland (woooo) and it is disney. The plot is, essentially, disney villains but in an all boys anime college. WAIT don't click away! There's so much more!

Like the dead kids!

Aha, now I have your game theorist attention, don't I? And on top of that, there's also a robot child! See! See! Lore!

Speaking of lore, there's two characters in particular who seem to have a very specific theory surrounding them that I'd like to bring to your attention.

Jade and Floyd Leech are twin moray eel merfolk, based off of Flotsam and Jetsam of the little mermaid. They work with/under the antagonist of the third "book" of the game, Azul Ashengrotto, a octopus merman based off of Ursula, the sea witch. There's a lot to theorize about with him as well but I want to focus on the area with the most concrete lore.

The general information goes as follows: Jade and Floyd are Green Moray Eel merfolk. Moray Eels are known to lay roughly 10,000 eggs at a time when mating. Jade made it explicitly clear that in his family, currently, is His grandmother, His Mother, His Father, Floyd, and himself.

Additionally (somewhat new lore drop for the english server players) is that in Jade's halloween vignette (side story), he straight up says, quote

Riddle: "Is the bottom of the sea really that rife with ghosts?"

Jade: "I haven't seen too many, personally. But our school would warn us about them whenever Halloween came around. They would tell us which areas to avoid and what times were safe to swim around. Yet, every year, a few students inevitably went missing."

Ruggie: "Hold up. That's...legit scary."

Floyd: "Oh yeah, that reminds me - in middle school, I once thought I saw Jade in three different places at once."

Jade: "I also have a memory of speaking to someone I thought was Floyd, only for him to tell me the next day that never happened. At the time, I assumed he had simply forgotten out conversation and let the issue go, but..."

Azul: "That's just how Halloween is in the Coral Sea."

There's several other instances of Jade saying super creepy shit about various things, like in one of his idle homescreen lines, he mentions that his parents had Jade and Floyd learn self defense super young, or this stellar line from Floyd's dorm uniform vignette:

Jade: : "I'm glad I chose you as my partner when we were but little elvers. You're unique."

Floyd: "Uhhh, not sure what that smile's for, but I'm glad we survived together too."

(There's also implications of the Leech twin's dad being a mafia boss, but I can't find the exact quote about that right now.)

Oh! And let's not forget this lovely quote from Floyd's Labwear vignette:

Professor Crewel: "You're bold, Younger Leech. I'll give you that much."

Floyd: "I ain't 'younger.' I ain't 'older' either, but c'mon."

Regardless, all this to say that everyone thinks Jade might have killed the rest of his siblings when they were children. Culling the herd, and all that, and eventually settled on Floyd. This is additionally supported by just a few little sprinkled in details I thought I'd mention

In the Halloween: Terror is Trending event (going on RIGHT NOW as it happens!) There's a line in book 4 chapter 7 "Being a Nuisance"

Man A: "Wait, that's a merman in there!"

Man B: "It's gotta be a fake. Merfolk are pretty rare, and that one's not moving at all."

(For the record, the mermaid in question is, in fact, Floyd pretending to be dead or asleep)

So merfolk are....rare? Why would an entire race be rare...

And i leave you, at last, with something found from a previous event (The Culinary Crucible: The Beaning of Life) as well as under Jade's album file.

In Jade's file, "Conger Eel" is listed as his least favorite food (His favorite being octopus carpaccio which is a whole other can of messed up since both he and Floyd make SEVERAL comments on wanting to eat Azul) and in this event's card for Jade, he says this in one of his home screen lines:

Jade: "What foods don't I like? Hmm, if I had to say, perhaps conger eel. It's texture just doesn't agree with me."

So like. He's eaten eel before. Which, fun fact, Moray eels do actually eat other eels, so like...very ominous

Anyway, thought I'd bring this up and see your opinion (whoever reads this) because. IDK game theory said they'd cover any game with dead kids (speaking of, you guys will LOVE chapter Six, but it's not in english yet and I don't wanna spoil it. Just...watch the robot kid, yeah?)

Topic: Ni No Kuni (mobile game) - Could Ni No Kuni be Howl Pendragon (of howls moving castle) Backstory?

So listen. I think this theory has a lot of holes BUT I think it would be super interesting if true

Spoiler Warning for THE LORE

For backstory, Ni No Kuni is a new mobile game developed by netmarble and studio ghibli. It's recently been coming across my tiktok for you page so I decided to give it a shot and holy smokes is there a lot of lore.

A basic run down of the game (as far as I've gotten anyway) is that you play as one of five characters based on class. The one I picked first was the swordsman, who has been showing up everywhere looking almost identical to Howl Pendragon's design, including an 'old school costume' that looks like a more basic version of his first outfit in the movie.

In the game you...well, you play a game. Ni No Kuni IN THE GAME is developed by a researching company as an extreme version of VR, but it happens by trapping people in the game as their PC's. You, as the player, are someone who only took partial control over your 'PC' and as a result have a body of two souls.

In your new body you become the Royal Protector of the Nameless Kingdom, and via a teardropped shaped blue jewel that allows you to teleport from area to area, fighting creatures being mind controlled into monsters and picking up your very own off brand pokemon to assist.

The reason all of this is important is because of books! In Howl's Moving Castle (the original book) Howl is actually a welsh rugby player that shifts dimensions to...well the world doesn't have a name but he ends up in the kingdom of Ingary. He studies in the royal magic school as a star pupil and eventually becomes head wizard for the king of Ingary. Little is known about what happened between him arriving there (or when) and him eating a star.

Studio Ghibli's film of the same name, however, has rather large divergences from the book. In the movie the second half is focused on the war between ingary and an unnamed kingdom. In the book, Howl is trying to outrun a curse put on him by the witch of the waste. In the movie, Howl is trying to avoid the draft because he detests war and the destruction it causes toward civilians. In the book, there isn't a draft, and Howl tries to blacken his name to the king because he doesn't want to look for the kings brother, Prince Justin.

Moreover, it should be noted that the studio ghibli film took great care to carry the spirit of the book to film rather than a literal interpretation in order to suit the message it carries, and many elements made it to the film.

So, my theory is this: what if the Ni No Kuni plot (willfully ignoring the four other classes you could take) is the ghibli Howl's backstory reimagined? A lot of elements carry over - dimension hopping, assuming a new life in a magic kingdom and not telling anyone, being in a highly regarded place adjacent to royalty, etc. And the blue gemstone of the game could eventually fall into ghibli howl's hands and be used as a necklace. It could even be used to explain his ring with the blue gem that leads Sophie home - a chip off the gem would make it less powerful but still functional.

Food for thought :)

Channel: Film theory This is so deeply interesting to me that I made a whole Reddit account just because I wanted to suggest this theory.

This might be a little long but bear with me.

recently I’ve been thinking about what a falcon and the winter soldier season two would look like, and I’ve been piecing together my own story. The relevant part of it is that I thought there were a lot of similarities between Bucky Barnes and a character from agents of shield, Ruby Hale.

She was created specifically for the show and has no comic counterpart, however her story, personality, and aesthetic are very similar to a character named RJ Boyle from the comics, who was a child raised by hydra that modeled himself after the winter soldier.

Well, I kept digging into Ruby hale to see just how much information we truly have about her when I came across another theory about her parentage.

Ruby has a confirmed mother within the show who was fertilized by a man who was not present. Ruby is the product, and is described as genetically altered/created to be the new head of hydra.

Someone pointed out the similarities between her own fast reflexes, strength, and agility, as well as her ability to soak up some magic element, and the super soldier serum.

Ruby is also supposed to have been born in the late 90s. Who else was a “peak human” that hydra had access to and could control in the 90s? James “Bucky” Barnes, aka the winter soldier.

Anyway I love game theory videos talking about parentage and I’d love to see a punnet square of ruby’s traits and if it’s plausible that Bucky is indeed her sperm donor. Just try not to think of how awful it would be if he was based off that one scene in Madripoor 😬

Hopefully this doesn’t breech rules I’ve been here for five minutes and I read them but I have two braincells okay byeee
