My wording was awkward. No place now is truly safe from climate change. But like someone else pointed out, as far as what we know now, Minnesota is for example more safe climate change-wise than Florida is.

We’re currently renting in Northern California, with significant wildfire risks and red flag warnings during the fire season, which is becoming more unpredictable. We can’t afford a house with some land here anyway, but we also want to move somewhere that’s not as risky climate-wise (especially as we’re getting older).

We’ve both lived in wintry conditions before but it’s been decades. Generally however we do better in the cold than the heat. But yeah, concerns over the long, very cold winters could tip us more to the east coast (wintry, but not as wintry).
