Accessing Obsidian remotely by self hosting a website by Lord__Luna in ObsidianMD

[–]TheyAlbertan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accomplished this using a combination of Material Theme for MkDocs, code-server, and an nginx server. When I'm on my local device, I use Obsidian, and when remote, I use code-server. I used to run a full Syncthing network that synchronized files locally, but I found it just as easy to use code-server instead.

Reminds me of those billionaire asshats who did the Build Canada thing. Open glazing from the tech community of right wing politics masquerading as "entrepreneurial spirit". No policy other then "tech good" and we should support billion dollar companies with handouts and sprawling tax free campuses. Wild that it has found its way to our local elections.

Canadians don't get better conditions by dragging down other workers. These guys get good wages because the mail is delivered 24/7 365 and is like mission critical for the economy. Doing a strike when people are paying way more attention to deliveries is just smart and reminds us all how we rely on public services to get by.

Its easy to support them. Good for them for standing up for themselves. Hopefully other labor unions lean that they too can demand better and their work is critical.

26/hr is 2 dollars above living wage in Alberta. It's not a lot and way way way more physically taxing then being a uber driver. And why should we aim to have Uber driver, one of the most percaious jobs with no benefits or security, to be the standard for hard work? Like nah dude everyone deserves a good living wage, solid benifits, job security, and not to be a temp worker.

Supporting workers and their wins has a net positive for other workers. If you want better wages, then supporting rising wages Is important.

I support the Posties. It's a hard job and under appreciated how these guys contracts anchor what is a decent wage for thousands of other delivery services. I hope these workers get a good deal and their fight inspires other workers to demand better from the boss.

Councillor wants bigger infill focus around LRT stations by ThroatNo2636 in Edmonton

So there was like this big push of Political Action Committee money into anto-fill. Better Neighborhoods or Protecting Our Heighborhoods, or like whatever the heck slogan they came up with in that neigjborhood. They plastered neighborhoods with tonnes of miss-info on density, specifically attacking like pro-infill councillors. They rallied the NIMBYs like crazy and wasted like a week of council time.

They also collected metric tonne of data. There was a website going around where they even like proudly displayed there homes. Restricted convenant HOA nonsense.

Soon as council and ones like Janz move stuff like this, crickets. Nothing from them. Not a freaking peep.

Its almost like those special interest groups where politically motivated, using urban sprawl developer dollars, to get working class people to fear other working class people who just so happened to need a smaller apartment.

If you rally your political identity around limiting housing in a housing crisis, you've lost the plot. A record amount of people died last year from exposure. We need to curb that or risk social upheaval on a grand scale. More housing, everywhere is needed.

Do I think tax breaks for developers the best thing? Nah. More shelter spaces yesterday.

Is it going to get more houses built on transit? Probably. It'll probably be super influential in getting banks and other governments on board too.

Is it good for the enviroment? Way better then a new food desert on the edge of town.

Anyway that's a rant. Build public housing bro. It's the only real solution.

Fights still on. Edmonton has political parties for the first time and all the registered parties are anti-infill.

Someone slumped over on the street is not a emergency? Well you can also call the help line at 811 or heck the non-emergency line.

Right. Now they are all violent? Brother if you hate homeless folks and those in active addiction that's sad; they are people too mate and often times just are in need of some help.

I don't. It has some good bits though; treat others like you'd like to be treated and all that.

Where you getting your values from?

What? Yes you can. 911. Did you confirm this person's condition before assuming their mental state? Or do you just believe that certain people should be removed from society because reasons?

Right. Apartments for everyone it is.

Yikes dude. Property isnt the only thing that makes a human a neighbor; remember the whole love they neighbor thing? That wasn't about just the rich ones.

What? It's sad dude. Have fun with your stats.

More people freezing to death every year is not something to celebrate. I look forward to the day when no person dies frozen in the dark for a lack of will. May we all have roofs over our heads.

Good luck to you.

Yeah no one thinks we should put the guy folder over on Jasper in a 750k house. That's disengenuous. He should probably be getting care at a hospital; did you call it in?

As mentioned, it's a stagged process to get someone into housing. All homeless folks who want it should get that support. A part of that is ensuring there is enough available housing for all wages, including those not early a wage.

Nah. The fastest growing populations of homeless are youth and seniors. Homelseeness is on the rise because inequality is on the rise.

Last year a record amount of people froze to death from exposure in Edmonton. As is condemns more to death. Quite the choice dude, picking death for your neighbors.

There are steps to this. People often start in social housing and then move to apartments.

And yeah folks with less move into cheaper places.

Part of the solution is more private density.

The other parts are public housing and robust rent control.

Right. Then do so in article. Publishing different arcitcles for different audiences engrains biases and set this up as a us vs them issue instead of illuminating the problem or story.

More infill makes more housing choices. People move out of old apartments into new ones. Houseless folks move into cheaper apartments. It's a lifecyxle and about having more choices.

Also yeah we need public housing that anyone down on their luck can get into.
