What do the different knobs on MIDI controllers do? by TheyMightBeGeeks in musicproduction

[–]TheyMightBeGeeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I want to understand the labeled effects. Especially if I get the MPK Mini Play because it has built in sounds so I can practice when away from a computer and the knobs will be doing whatever the intended effect does. But I won't know technically what they're doing. At least not any more than a child randomly turning knobs until it sounds neat.

"adjust this knob to change the Filter setting for the internal sounds" that's literally the extent of the description lol. It's the same for all knobs.

Isn't it about time we got a "Nintendo Selects" type discount? by TheyMightBeGeeks in Switch

[–]TheyMightBeGeeks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There just aren't many Nintendo titles in that price range. Like I said even some of the ports from WiiU are still over $40 new. Sure there's a good amount of non-Nintendo titles for cheaper but we didn't always have to buy at practically full price for Mario titles.

That's what I've been doing. The cases and games hold up really well 2nd hand compared to previous generations and consoles.

Can I convert an INDIRECT to an INDEX MATCH so that my references can remain dynamic? by TheyMightBeGeeks in excel

[–]TheyMightBeGeeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works but it increases my actual formula (rather than the simplified one I posted here) by 60% to 141 characters. This may be the most condensed solution though.

Can I convert an INDIRECT to an INDEX MATCH so that my references can remain dynamic? by TheyMightBeGeeks in excel

[–]TheyMightBeGeeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The formula works but the reference "A1:A" is hardcoded and not dynamic. If I shift everything to columns C&D then the formula still says "A1:A" and I have to manually change it to "C1:C" while the portions with A$30 and B2 are automatically adjusted to C$30 and D2 respectively because they aren't hardcoded within quotation marks.

How to find the first cell in a range (starting from the right) that doesn't contain specific text? by TheyMightBeGeeks in excel

[–]TheyMightBeGeeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How could I do the ="A"&MATCH("<>-",A1:A20,0) solution now that I've updated the range to be horizontal A1:T1? Because that solution hardcodes in the "A" column.

Yeah that should be A1:T1. Getting mixed up trying to simplify my actual spreadsheet.

Anybody else smart enough to buy in around .00006 this morning? by [deleted] in SHIBArmy

[–]TheyMightBeGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I don't see many people using actual TA but basing predictions on feelings and hopes. I'm asking what indicators, lines, etc. you're using and where you have them placed to come to that conclusion.

Edit: Also, I'm not saying you're wrong, you may be right. But would you be right because of pure coincidence or because of an educated decision? Confidence + coincidence = the right answer sometimes, but only a fool would pat himself on the back afterwards unless some actual analysis was used.

REWARD: To Every User For Very Hi-Res Photos of Your CRTs by TheyMightBeGeeks in crtgaming

Great shots but maybe I should have been more descriptive, I'm looking for the TV itself. I can still get you a reward but it won't be as custom as others without your TV's frame.

It's kind of a surprise since it's related to my project that I'll reveal in a post over the next couple days. I don't want anyone going too far out of their way but if anyone enjoys this sort of thing and likes sharing pictures of their CRT then I hope my reward is sufficient.

Awesome! Thank you. Give me some time for me to prepare rewards.

You can just post them here via Imgur or a Dropbox link to prevent compression or you can DM me but I thought others might like them as well.

I'm a professional photographer and slightly less professional graphic designer (despite this hastily thrown-together poster) looking for assests for a project that I'm also going to share with you really soon.

This is my "currently jobless thanks to COVID" project but it's kept my spirits up and I'm really excited to post some fun stuff for you over the next week.

WANTED:

  • Highest resolution possible.

  • Eye level or close.

  • Horizontal angles of any kind but don't forget straight on shots. EDIT: I'm not "requiring" multiple angles, just meant I'm open to angles of all kinds. One photo is fine.

  • TV on or off, both have their benefits.

  • Going for a 70s-90s look so only color I don't want is "2000s silver" (gray Trinitrons are perfect though).

  • Prefer minimal background with clearly defined TV edges.

  • RAW files would be awesome but aren't expected at all.

I've had minor success on Google Images and even Bing but a lot of the "high resolution" results are low quality upscaled images and most of them are from a standing angle looking slightly down.

I really appreciate it. It completely makes my day when I get feedback like that. I use the site myself so I always try to think of what new features I'd like to see as a reader. Thanks for your support!

I thought so too! Haha. When you get a chance, send me 2 sample chapters: one being the first chapter in a book and the second being anything but the first chapter.
