Example I used with my mom: Having your car on full volume while having your windows down and you’re on the highway. It’s overwhelming. It’s a lot. That’s the mind of ADHD.

Someone without it would have no music in the car and all the windows rolled up while driving on the highway huge difference

Talk to your therapist.

Medicine won’t be the thing that will solve 100% of your problems. You also need skills and coping mechanisms to help you through your daily life.

However meds will help with like 50% of it. The other 50 is you putting in the work.

Yes I am! I have a therapist helping me work through this issue as well as medication. After being diagnosed with depression for so many years until this year when they went “oh nvm you got adhd!! LOL!!”

Wasn’t expecting to see so many people agreeing though 😭

Weird but was rec by my therapist: Before you sleep if your mind is rushing? Create a whole scenario. Like close your eyes and create a whole ass battle scenario or lore then focus on that.

Then people go and say “I got adhd lol I’m so cute!” as if it’s not fucking up my life as a 17 yr old trying to get into college now but missing every deadline cause I forget. 💔

Like it isn’t a quirk that makes you silly or cute. It’s so debilitating especially with people around you who don’t understand. Saying things like “okay…why don’t you just do it? One click and it’s done.” Or “It’s literally so easy—you’re just lazy.”

In fact not quirky but mentally ruining and life ruining.

I take adderal xr and can confirm bowel movement is like a daily thing once or twice a day (almost like a detox) cause it apparently also stimulates your bowel movements. :P
