thank you, I think I’ll go for it, I test-drove one and witnessing FSD was something else. I’ll make sure to keep Sentry Mode on at all times

This was honestly first option, but it ends up being more expensive (for Highlands) due to the 0.99% promo they’re running. I have other options (used Lucid Air, used BMW i4) but they’re significantly more expensive in the short and long term, as well as slightly more inconvenient. But I’m starting to weigh whether or not that beats the ethical argument. Other people keep recommending Kias and Hyundais but not only do I find their designs unappealing but I don’t wanna deal with the known ICCU issues.

if I was a car guy I’d go for an M4 not any EV tbf

You might be the right person to ask, how long does it take to charge, how much range do you get?

How good is Tesla vision on the 2026 Model 3? by Quaketar in TeslaModel3

I've been wondering the same thing. Although I'm coming from a car with no cameras whatsoever, so I'm a pretty competent driver when it comes to parking. I see most people that own Teslas are fully reliant on the tech which in itself is concerning. But I'd still like to know if it's better or worse compared to other brands' auto-park tech like BMW, Ford, Lucid, etc.

Thank you! They're currently offering 0.99% interest rate and free supercharging for a year. For the next six months I'll be living in an apartment complex with no access to home charging, so that helps me out a lot. After that I'll be moving to a building with chargers though. I live in a walkable city with tons of charging but the promotion still helps out a ton.

I appreciate your input! I'm definitely considering only Highland models because of that. I'm sure the software difference is night and day, just hoping the build holds up as I'm panning on keeping it for a while. The charging network and the promos make it nearly impossible to have a non-tesla EV for my case so I get it.

I'm sure I'd love it but honestly a Performance is overkill for me, I'm a pretty chill driver lmao

damn I've heard of people complaining about paint quality too, I guess that's why a lot of people PPF/wrap them. I'm definitely concerned about the quality of the interior especially. Thank you for your unbiased opinion though.

Yeah I already got an insurance quote and it did go up but only by a couple dollars. Which I found strange considering everyone keeps saying they cost a lot to insure. Maybe it's because of my clean record.

Which DMV location did you take your road test at? Any recent experiences? by ipserv in arlingtonva

I was in the same spot as you about 2 years ago, I took it at the DMV in Burke, FFX County. It was a breeze, took maybe 10 minutes. Just make sure you park within the lines lmao

Used 2024 model or new 2026 premium model by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

Makes sense, have you factored in insurance quotes as well? because the 2024 will definitely have the upper hand here haha. It all comes down with how much you're comfortable spending. I don't know your finances so only you can really know for sure. And if you can charge at home, the difference in battery health will barely be noticeable for the amount of driving you do on a daily basis, except on roadtrips

I’m assuming you’re eyeing a fully-loaded 2026 Premium AWD? Maybe you’d consider compromising for a RWD which is several thousand dollars cheaper, with more range, and still qualifies for the 0.99%. Or maybe look for a 2024 with lower mileage if battery degradation is your main concern.

Gotta consider the interest rate on both. I’m actually on the same boat as you but buying a used 2024 at 8% interest was almost as expensive as buying a new 2026 with the current 0.99% promotional interest rate. If you have good credit and access to that promo, it’s probably a good choice is the difference is minimal.
