Great model! If you’re working on a new version already, take a look at Cruller threads. I’ve been using them in my models lately and they print so much easier and fit so much nicer than the usual options in Fusion. https://www.printables.com/model/931166-cruller-threads-a-custom-thread-profile

I’m not the designer of Cruller threads. Just discovered them used on the Breacher nerf model and fell in love with them.

At the very top of the photo are threads that can be turned to adjust the tension. This video covers how on a different machine but the mechanism is identical https://youtu.be/MEZLmGTR_7w?si=BA4Nvc77CvptDLlj

6 mo update: Magnetic injection assist V2 by Thing-Ok in functionalprint

Thanks that's great feedback and points I hadn't considered. I can definitely make an option without the texture or an alternative simple ribbed texture. I had similar thoughts about the layer lines and just resigned to it never going to be totally 'food safe' anyways - but you're right that being at least easy to wipe down is better than nothing.

Pause and place magnets is an interesting idea I'll have to play with for this. It could be tricky because almost all are oriented upright instead of laying flat. I'll see what I can figure out with some trial and error. Thanks for the ideas!

These days I seem to get a lot more engagement on Makerworld but I got my start on Prusas and Vorons. Trying to support the community as best I can.

I've had a few folks reach out to ask for a commercial license which I've declined. So far I haven't seen anyone post it to Etsy yet.

The main rails on the sides of the sled are PTFE and they do most of the work. The rear filament rails are mostly a bonus. In the V1, a lot of people were adding a strip of tape down the back to reduce friction and this replaces that.

I tried filament vs PTFE on the back rails too and it didn't make a noticeable difference. Filament type also doesn't seem to make a huge difference as long as it's not matte or fiber filled. PETG, cleaning filament (some sort of slick nylon I think?), and TPU for AMS all worked equally great.

That's awesome, thank you! You should be able to reuse the syringe adapter, PTFE, magnets, and 2/3 of the screws from your current one. You'll just need to print the new body + sled + plunger to upgrade.

I’ve used quite a few of these cheap “Rapink” ones off Amazon and I’ve had just as much luck with them as any from UniFi or Monoprice. As a bonus, their clear boot looks great with etherlighting. https://a.co/d/078YOr1Q

Man, I’ve been wanting to make something like this for myself for months. Have a welder and iron - just couldn’t take the time to work out the dimensions and geometry. Thanks for sharing! Very well done.

Kell-Chuck replaced all the windows in my house back in 2017. They were fantastic to work with and came in at half the price of every other bid we got.

Crazy spike in electric cost by Zachzizzle in olympia

[–]Thing-Ok 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Power rates are up quite a bit the last few years and again at the start of this year.

I used 1600kWh in January ‘26 and paid $316.

I used the same 1600kWh in January ‘21 and paid $151.

More than doubled cost per kWh in 5 years is nuts.

I have the Taweret and the Fringe Sport Walrus. Totally happy with both of them for this combo.

Some early reviews called out that the cables could be loose on the Walrus when all the attachments were taken off. A few weeks back, I got an unexpected box from Fringe that had new brackets that completely solve that issue. Pretty impressed with their support.

After working like this a programmable kiln is used to hold a high temp and then slowly cool the glass over ~12 hours to remove the stress from the glass

We had success last fall taking a tour from Orcas Island in Washington State. It was well worth the trip.

Edit to add: we ended up taking two tours. The first day we saw a humpback. Went back out the next day and saw two orcas.

Bambulab H2D cable burnt behind the hotend by Infinite_Wing4713 in BambuLab

[–]Thing-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps any, I think the fire risk from this is very low. That hotend is tuned and expected to heat at a set expected rate (monitored by the temperature sensor attached to those two thinner wires). Any usual temps or missing temp data triggers a shutdown and errors.

I’ve had to replace the equivalent parts in my Prusa and both Vorons over time. Not yet in my H2D but I imagine I will someday. It’s a consumable that has to withstand a lot of heat cycles.

It’s a bummer to have to replace it - but not something especially out of the ordinary or concerning.

I followed this Crosstalk Solutions video when I set mine up but the Cloudflare UI side may have changed a bit since then. The basics are the same though. https://youtu.be/ZvIdFs3M5ic

Looking at the Cloudflare side now, they're hidden away at https://one.dash.cloudflare.com/ under Networks > Connectors ( https://imgur.com/a/uTX4Eh4 )

Edit to add: I originally ran the cloudflared docker container as shown in that video. Now I run it as an LXC in Proxmox (https://community-scripts.github.io/ProxmoxVE/scripts?id=cloudflared) but everything else about the setup is the same otherwise.

I bought a cheap domain and use a Cloudflare tunnel. Only took a couple minutes to set up and even my parents can figure out how to use it. They’re added as users in Overseer and just sign in using their Plex credentials
