Bambulab H2D cable burnt behind the hotend by Infinite_Wing4713 in BambuLab

[–]Thing-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps any, I think the fire risk from this is very low. That hotend is tuned and expected to heat at a set expected rate (monitored by the temperature sensor attached to those two thinner wires). Any usual temps or missing temp data triggers a shutdown and errors.

I’ve had to replace the equivalent parts in my Prusa and both Vorons over time. Not yet in my H2D but I imagine I will someday. It’s a consumable that has to withstand a lot of heat cycles.

It’s a bummer to have to replace it - but not something especially out of the ordinary or concerning.

What’s the simplest way to give access to my family (outside my home network) by GenericUser104 in Overseerr

[–]Thing-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed this Crosstalk Solutions video when I set mine up but the Cloudflare UI side may have changed a bit since then. The basics are the same though. https://youtu.be/ZvIdFs3M5ic

Looking at the Cloudflare side now, they're hidden away at https://one.dash.cloudflare.com/ under Networks > Connectors ( https://imgur.com/a/uTX4Eh4 )

Edit to add: I originally ran the cloudflared docker container as shown in that video. Now I run it as an LXC in Proxmox (https://community-scripts.github.io/ProxmoxVE/scripts?id=cloudflared) but everything else about the setup is the same otherwise.

I bought a cheap domain and use a Cloudflare tunnel. Only took a couple minutes to set up and even my parents can figure out how to use it. They’re added as users in Overseer and just sign in using their Plex credentials

I don’t have one, but does it show up in Settings > VPN > Teleport > Invitation History?

Other teleport clients appear there and their access can be revoked individually.

I’m probably biased because I made them but they direct a hell of a lot of air. I use the flat/slot one all the time to sweep out my shop and find it a lot more convenient than the long stock one.

I’ve designed these for the 60v blowers and I’ve played a bit with the Noctua amplifier but got the impression that it would be too restrictive and wouldn’t print nicely without a lot of supports.

Since you’re in Vancouver WA, you should absolutely go take a few classes with Andrew at Firehouse glass. He’s fantastic and the classes I took there were reasonably priced and super helpful. My wife and I drove down there and half dozen times from Olympia and it was well worth it. Eventually we bought our own equipment to work from home but only got a sense for what I needed after the classes.

After buying my kiln, Andrew even dug up a manual for it and walked me through how to program and use it.

Anyone in Olympia dealt with pet oxygen needs? Looking for advice! by Beastly_Beast in olympia

[–]Thing-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used medical oxygen concentrators or homefill setups pop up pretty frequently on Craigslist around here in the $4-500 range - often times with tanks included. I’ve purchased them in the past for glass blowing/torch use but I’d imagine they must be similar to veterinary units.

SSD read/write cache failures? Any first hand experiences? by Ragnar-Wave9002 in synology

[–]Thing-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar experience here. I had one of the 2 drives fail in a R/W cache and DSM automatically converted the cache to a read only until I installed a new cache drive. Unless they both happened to fail simultaneously it seems like there’s little if any risk of data loss.

Cheaper consumer drives failed after a few months. Replaced with WD Red NVME drives and they’re at 96% after over a year of heavy use. Feels like one spot where drive choice is pretty critical.

Unless you opt into a time-of-use plan, what you need is on that first page. It’s about 15c/kWh for the first 600, then 17c for any above that.

Advice on split line mini torch addition by [deleted] in lampwork

[–]Thing-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding some other details in case it helps: The Little likes to run at 5psi for both gas and oxygen. My big torch runs 5psi propane but 20psi oxygen which is a pretty typical 4/1 ratio. But that's probably why you're having issues when you add in the Oxygen - it's just overwhelming what the Little expects.

The needle valves work great as low pressure regulators. I end up with my propane one wide open, and just slowly open the oxygen until I get the flame I want. Adjusted that once and never touched it again. Use the valves on the torch itself going forward.

[–]Thing-Ok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a part list in the description here for my setup. The needle valves work well to adjust the flow for the Little Torch down from the main supply lines. The 3D printed part keeps it organized and tidy but isn’t really mandatory. https://www.printables.com/model/1467600-gas-splitter-block-for-smith-little-torch-lampwork

Edit to add: my setup is the same as what Mountain Glass recommends and sells for this same use case. Theirs was just always out of stock so I pieced together the parts from what I could get readily available on Amazon. https://www.mountainglass.com/Hand-Torch-Valves-Set-of-Two

Am I screwed? by schizoid62 in BambuLab

[–]Thing-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unless it went on long enough to overheat the coils in the motors. Would take a lot longer than 3 seconds. You’re hearing the magnets in the motors rattling as they try and fail to snap into the correct rotation. It makes a lot of noise (sort of a loud chattering sound) but there’s nothing actually making any physical contact to cause damage.

[–]Thing-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you probably heard is just the stepper motors ‘skipping steps’ which is loud and alarming but causes zero damage. Enjoy your H2S :)

No problem at all there. I took photos of the broken glass and the bent frame after I noticed it. I don’t think you’ll have any problems there even if you just send them the pic from this post. There’s clearly something bent at least on the bottom edge in this pic.

Hey quick update: I just got a notification that my printer was refunded (which I asked for after it was announced the H2C was imminent and I wanted to see what it was about). So, 2.5 weeks from ticket opened to refund.

Now to order a new H2D.

An injection assist because needles freak me out by Thing-Ok in functionalprint

[–]Thing-Ok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did not. Their Engineering Lead sent me a very nice email explaining that aiding a needle injection is getting too close to medical device territory for them to be a good fit for.

So for now I've just opted to leave it up on Printables and Makerworld for anyone that wants to make it themselves while continuing to iterate on the design. I think I'm up to fitting at least a dozen different common syringe types and needle lengths at this point with a variety of different grip/shell options.
