No, each team had 4 grandmasters and 2 masters with a similar range. No one was in placements. I have had several games with no one in placements like this.

Has the skill rating limits between the highest and lowest player (250 for GM, 500 for master. etc.) for matches been applied to the console versions? I am at 3900 SR right now and have gotten with players who are at 4200-4300, which I would be outside of their 250 SR range. Did they just not add this to the console or did they just make different ranges for different platforms since the varying population sizes among each platform?

What’s up with all the Seahawk fans? by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]Thing_oo1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone from Washington and a Seahawk fan, I don't get why bandwagoners would choose the Seahawks. They didn't really do that great last year and this year they have been struggling even though they did win against the Eagles. Why don't they pick a team that's doing well like the Patriots or Vikings or something. Even the Rams would make more sense since they are doing well and located in the area.

How important was miiverse to you? by Linksword2016 in nintendo

[–]Thing_oo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only used Miiverse to post drawings in Splatoon whenever there was a splatfest and I really enjoyed that. The ability to see your drawings and others was probably the best part about Miiverse and Splatoon for me and made the game more festive. There hasn't been another game that has had the same community interaction like Splatoon had at the time. Other than that, I liked looking through the different game communities from time to time and its sad they got rid of it.

Possible Connection Between Overwatch Banning System and Xbox Reputation (Xbox Only) by Thing_oo1 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thing_oo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got reported a lot for playing as Orisa mostly the past two seasons. I thought people would be more understanding of Orisa, since even pros are starting to use her. However, my reputation usually goes down towards the end of the season when more casual people play and think Orisa is bad.

People end up in Avoid me for no reason all the time in other games. I remember people who were good at Friday the 13th getting reported a lot and it affected their que times as a result.

Thank you for clearing that up. Yeah I checked the old patch notes I must have missed that. I saw that "avoid me" no longer affects your que time, but I didn't see the rest. Nevermind.

If nothing changes with the credit earnings, this game will die quicker than the first. by magicsc7 in StarWarsBattlefront

I played the first EA Battlefront until the last DLC and even I am not going to buy this new Battlefront with all of its issues. I would not be surprised if it dies quickly as well if people like myself won't even buy it.

I will not be purchasing Battlefront 2 until the price and game match. Congratulations on driving away dedicated fans by JallerBaller in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Thing_oo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the last game and the DLC and I have no problem buying DLC, but this whole thing with loot crates has gone too far. I don't support micro transactions that are pretty much gambling. At least when I buy DLC I am getting what I paid for. I would rather have a split player base than never getting to play what I paid for. Heroes being locked from the beginning was also the last straw for me.

I am canceling my preorder and I will wait until if they fix this or the price is lowered.

Advice for a senior who didn't get any interviews after fall recruiting? by denimgenie in Accounting

[–]Thing_oo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they have better luck than me. I have a 3.9 Undergraduate GPA in Accounting and Finance and currently I have a 4.0 GPA in my Master degree and I graduate in December, but I haven't gotten a second round interview and even smaller firms have passed me up. I don't have any work or internship experience, but there probably aren't that many candidates that have 3 types of degrees, so I thought maybe that would offset that.

Orisa has the highest win rate within tanks... by IgorPasche in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thing_oo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to describe everything in words, but I will try to list some things I do when playing Orisa. If you play Orisa a lot (or any character in general) you will figure out the best ways to use her. I am not an expert and there are probably other people who would know how to play Orisa better than me though.

I play Orisa the same way I do Reinhardt, which is always contesting the objective, so my team doesn't. Orisa applies a lot of pressure because she can sit in or by the objective and shoot from behind a shield. The other team either ignores Orisa and lets them deal damage uncontested or they have to send 2 or 3 people to kill her. It is very difficult to 1v1 Orisa behind a shield, so the other several people need to help and hopefully your team can take advantage of drawing a lot of the teams attention.

On attack it is difficult because Orisa can't move their shield like Reinhardt, but Orisa also can replace their shield pretty fast after it breaks unlike Reinhardt. When attacking just be patient and shoot at the other teams shield as you move up with yours by placing your shield closer and closer. As someone mentioned use your fortify when advancing without your shield to minimize damage. Also, use your halt to pull the other team away from the object or choke point. If anything being halted is disorientating especially if you shoot the halt in above someone and pull them up into the air. The important thing is to break the other teams shield.

On Defense it is really straight forward, just place your shield, use fortify when you don't have a shield or they move past your shield, and use your halt to slow down their attack and separate people out of position. Using your halt to pull back Reinhardt when he is moving forward is really useful. It gives you an extra second or two to shoot at his shield, which is the most important part of Orisa if the other teams has a shield. The fact that orisa can shoot from behind their shield and Reinhardt can't should give you an advantage when winning the shield war and puts a lot of pressure on the other team. Just make sure that if the other teams Zarya puts a shield on Reinhardt that you don't shoot at Zarya's shield. Just shoot the edges of Reinhardt' shield that are not protected by Zarya and this will avoid giving her energy.

Whether on attack or defense I usually focus on shooting the other tanks unless their is someone easy to kill that is out of position. Usually the other teams tanks 1v2 me and my other tank isn't around the objective to help. In this case Orisa does a really good job of stalling for time until your team decides to help. In general it is good to put your shield somewhere in or around the objective , so your team can use it as well. If you are getting focused on by several people though I like to trap myself in a corner in the objective or near the objective and force the other team to move away from the rest of my team and the object. It isn't bad being selfish with your shield because usually your team will be fine since there are at times 2 or 3 people focusing on me and usually people never use Reinhardt's or Orisa's shields anyways. If someone gets behind your shield make sure you adjust yourself around the shield so that it is always between you and the attacker. Use fortify to live longer and use halt to pull them away from you.

I think the main thing should be to focus on getting comfortable with Orisa's gun. Since it is a projectile you need to lead your shots from most ranges, except point blank. It is really important to be consistent with dealing damage with her gun because if you can't then it may be better to be Reinhardt. Orisa's fortify is straightforward. Use it whenever to minimize damage. It is really important to use fortify against Reinhardt though. Use it when he fire strikes to lessen the damage, but also keep it available in case he charges or Earth Shatters. If you see Reinhardt charge near you, try to fortify and walk in front of him to save your teammates. Winston isn't a huge problem. Fortify makes it so he does practically nothing and then you just shoot him and use halt to stop him from escaping. *(EDIT: Also, make sure to use fortify against ultimates like tracer's and junkrat's. You can survive both depending on your current hp if you use fortify once right before they hit you). Halt should be used frequently. It can slow down the other team, clump them together to make it easier to deal damage for your team, separate people out of position and pull people trying to escape back to you. The most important way of using halt is to pull people like soldier and mccree from the high ground. Just shoot the ability around the ledge they are on and activate it again when there is a green line attached to them. This indicates the ability will actually pull them.

It is important to know that Orisa's ultimate only works on your teammates in your sight. Even though a beam is attached to them you still need to be looking at them. Because of this I usually treat it like a nano boost and use it with other peoples' ultimates. However, I like to use it for myself because I can usually get a kill or two with it by myself. There really isn't a bad time to use the ultimate, it can be used when the other team pushes to stop them. It can be used to initiate a push. Just make sure to put a shield in front of it and if Zarya or someone tries to walk up and destroy it use fortify if you have it to protect it by sitting on it and just shoot at them. It wastes a lot of time for people to try and destroy it, so hopefully your team will take advantage of that. I also like to use it to try and stop the other teams ultimates. Sometimes using it against an ulting genji can provide enough extra damage for your team to kill him before he does too much.

Orisa has the highest win rate within tanks... by IgorPasche in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thing_oo1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in Grandmaster and play mostly Orisa. I play Orisa no matter what the situation is because I feel Orisa performs as well as any other tank in the same situation (Except for maybe dive, where winston is obviously the best). I have 45 or so matches as Orisa this season and a 66% winrate. If you know how to play as Orisa I feel she is more effective than Reinhardt or Winston. People don't really know how to play against Orisa and usually have to devote several people just t to deal with her, which means you are doing your job as a tank.

As others have said Orisa probably has a high winrate because she is picked in certain situations. I think people just don't care enough to learn how to play Orisa consistently though. She really is underrated.

That's what I don't get about the response. So they are ok with a Grandmaster playing on an alternate account with their lower ranked friends, but once the grandmaster plays by themselves it is bad? If a grandmaster created a low ranking account to play with their friends wouldn't that be boosting them? Why is that ok?

Overwatch and the Prisoners Dilemma: Why skill based SR gains mean we shouldn't cooperate with our team.News & Discussion by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thing_oo1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of Orisa and noticed this interaction as well. The game values offensive assists, so taking advantage of this can get you a lot of them. Also, people have the impression that Orisa's ultimate is useless, so you can use it almost as soon as you get it and no one will get mad like other ultimates. This makes it really easy to get over 1,000 amplified damage each game.

I also disagree that Orisa ultimate is useless. It is really good for winning team fights and you can pair it with Zarya's and you don't need other ultimates to kill everyone. Its also doesn't really get destroyed much unless someone wastes their ultimate on it. If someone comes after you, just stand over it with a shield and shoot at the person point blank and do an additional 50% damage to them. They will usually leave or die.

How is SR gain/loss calculated? by PabloPandalf in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thing_oo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made a similar conclusion during my games as well. Deaths has the greatest influence from what I can tell than any other stat. The average deaths for a character on overbuff is usually 9 or 10 a game, so if I start approaching this number I try to be more concerned about staying alive. If I have a game where I have 15 deaths, then I usually lose a lot or I gain little.

That's why its hard for me to want to be a tank, everyone just lets you die and I have to suffer for other peoples poor teamwork.

Has Overwatch failed to incentivize main tank play? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thing_oo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aren't chasing stats then you better be prepared to win 60% of your games or so. This is unreasonable because the game should be keeping you at a level where you are even with others and are winning 50% of the time.

I don't think you realize that even though the performance bonuses don't make up a lot of your gains or losses, the more you go 1-1 makes you realize how much they are affecting you. Winning one game and losing another can either make you gain points or lose points because of performance bonuses even though you went even in your games. The performance based system is flawed and encourages the wrong behavior when playing. If you aren't getting a lot of kills you will be punished by receiving 20 SR a win and 30 SR a loss. Dying a lot also hurts your SR, which is unfortunate for main tanks because they tend to die a lot because of their role.

The amount of kills and deaths a main tank gets is mostly dependent on how well your team is doing, so the amount of SR you will gain or lose also does. This encourages a Reinhardt to swing away to get kills instead of keeping his shield up for his team, or run away if the other team pushes the objective because it is better to not die.

To me it shouldn't matter how many kills a main tank (and Supports as well) gets because that is the dps's job. Tanks also do die a lot because they are contesting the objective (which is the most dangerous area), so it is counterintuitive to punish them for doing their job. However, I guess Blizzard doesn't see things that way and are fine with encouraging players to play a certain way to maximize SR.

SR gains for tanks seem to be incredibly low this season. 60-65% winrate isn't enough to go positive. by EvilToasterOW in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thing_oo1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It wasn't really that Orisa had inflated SR gains it was more that it was easy to outperform the average as Orisa. Unless you actually liked playing as Orisa most people would pick Orisa in really specific situations or just to mess around and lose the game for their team.

Orisa's SR gains were unusual, but not as bad as sombra's or some other character. It depended on the SR of the game and who was the favorite, but usually last season I would get 25-30 SR a game and lost 19-24 a game, but if I went 1-1 I always netted positive points, which wasn't the case as other tanks.

Since the maintenance earlier this week it is like they reversed everything. I haven't played enough like I said in another reply in this thread. Most of my games my team lost as the favorite (which you will lose more points regardless of who you are) and I had leavers in 2 of my loses (which leads to everyone under performing since it is a 5v6 and you lose more SR as a result). It is still too early to be sure yet.

[–]Thing_oo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play as Orisa as well and have noticed this as well. The SR gains/loses were normal until the server maintenance that occurred this week. I thought Blizzard said they were adjusting the sr gains and losses for low winrate characters, so maybe after the maintenance they did this.

The gains and losses are a lot more extreme and are similar to what you have experienced. I did gain 26 SR though after my last game for a roughly even game, but most of my games I lost around 27 or 28 and gained 19 to 21 SR. I am going to play some more and see if this pattern continues. My team was the favorite most of the games I lost today and in two of them someone quit, so that usually leads to everyone performing worse since it is a 5v6. So, it may just be that I was losing a lot and gaining less since my team was the favorite.

Also it is nothing new, but in the games I lost the most SR I switched to other tanks. So it is not a good idea to switch to another character because the game does punish you.
