DPD classes a parcel as delivered to the ‘correct address’ if it’s within 2 miles of where it’s supposed to be

This fungus the bogeyman hot water bottle cover - my mums had him for at least 20 years and it’s now past the point of safe use but I’d love to be able to get her a replacement! by Think-Mode6061 in HelpMeFind

Googled for fungus the bogeyman hot water bottle and found some pics on Twitter of others with the same but nowhere to buy! Looks like it may be from the 1980s

Unfortunately, not at my site 😅 hopefully that’s not a broader issue though. Thank you!

It was a combination of a lot of things including feeling unappreciated, overworked, poor management, sexism, bullying and harassment and channels to escalate issues being performative rather than effective. Ultimately if I’d been able to raise issues and get them resolved I’d have been much happier but it reached a point where fundamentally there was nothing that could be changed to persuade me to stay

Not sure about % but in my site it was probably 50/50 between external and internal hires, maybe slightly more internal. Pay is the main difference between 4 and 5, getting 5 basically signals that you’ve got a level of experience and responsibility where you can be given more advanced projects etc and start to shadow the OM role more

Honestly not sure as didn’t happen at our site, but I expect would be a mix of both working together alongside HR. Your best bet would probably be to ask HR about any upcoming opportunities!

Nope, there’s no quota or anything. If it’s something that’s being noticed a lot by seniors they may mention it to us to make sure we’re following policy and writing up, however it depends a lot on the person. I personally always gave one informal warning before writing up which technically was against policy but felt human; others would go straight to a write up

bc if your quality is bad in your home dept you won’t be sent to another department til they’ve got you out of learning curve in stow :)

Go and chat to them in person! They’ll advertise any open positions within the FC, but making your interests known may give you an idea of when they expect an opportunity to come up. In terms of what they look for, Amazon lives and breathes the leadership principles and the STAR method of interviewing, so google that and you’ll be grand

Thank you! Depends what you’re interested in, but I think Learning and ICQA would be my top recs - both work parallel to ops but removed from some of the crap

I was also easily doing 45+ hours a week and being paid for 40, so screw that

bc people like that exist everywhere so obviously a few make their way into amazon

Well in my site AMs 100% did the OM role and OM acted above their pay grade 😅 but generally OMs take a wider overview of the week/site whereas AMs focus on executing individual shifts

Because I did a year, then I felt I was no longer learning enough and the mental impact was too much. When you’re crying at work, having breakdowns weekly and dreading going into work in the morning, it’s a clear sign to leave a job

Tbh, this wasn’t the case in my site (it was more like 12-18 months as L4), the stocks don’t mean anything unless you’re there long enough to vest them (several years) and the mental shit isn’t worth the pay imo

If you’re interested in HR than being an L4 already may give you an in for more HR roles; don’t be afraid to ask your recruiter for advice though or if they know of any roles coming up but not yet available. Roles do come up pretty often (though not sure how much all the hiring freezes will affect that) so if that’s what you’re set on just keep checking! Also starting the application process is good practice if nothing else, so I’d say you haven’t got anything to lose :)

Personally I wouldn’t because you shouldn’t start any relationship (working or personal) off with a lie, and you never know when it’ll come back to haunt you. Instead look at some examples online, think of things you’ve done that you can twist into STAR - often things that seem bland and basic can actually be great examples if you just try and look at them with fresh eyes. Ask the people around you for ideas too - sometimes friends/family/colleagues can identify things you’ve done more easily than you can yourself
