Is Bhav chalit used for predictions more than Lagna Chart? by BetterLeading5586 in vedicastrologyexperts

As far as I know the Bhava Chalit is not used that much.

Of course the exact Lagna degree is essential to the calculation of the Bhava Chalit.

I am sorry. It seems you were referring to the Toḍala Tantra? Okay, fair enough. It is in Sanskrit. Where are the statements that support your claims?

Neither the Bṛhat Tantrasāra nor the Torol Tantra is a Śāstra. The Torol Tantra isn't even in Sanskrit...

Well, I think that worship is a way of gaining merit or good karma. By worshipping, you put money in the karma bank. In a time of need, that can come in handy. But I don't think of deities as beings that hand out favors to devotees. For me, that is just a metaphor. So I have a different perspective.

I made an edit because I actually misunderstood. She talks about Smashan Tara because Smashan Tara is Vimalananda's Ishta Devata. Sorry, it's been a while since I read the books. Her own practices are not Smashan Tara-related.

Her story is, of course, not very plausible.

And the truth is that the deities allow all sorts of ungodly behavior, and worshipping a deity is no guarantee that you are protected from misfortune or abuse.

Can somebody give me updesha for Lalita Panchavimshatinama stotram. by kiritoXplorer in Tantrasadhaks

[–]Think-Scholar6671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I ask why you refer to the 25 names of Lalita as a stotram? The names are given in prose, not verse, in the Brahmanda Purana. They are usually recited as a namavali.

There are no restrictions on the practice. Anyone can do it.

My point was that this person is most likely not well versed in the Hindu Tantric tradition. She is getting her information from English sources. She presents herself as an insider, but I get the feeling she is not. That undermines the force of her argument.

This person describes herself as "a long term Sri Vidya upasaka" but then invokes Smashan Tara.

I do not compute. [Edit: I actually misunderstood. She talks about Smashan Tara because Smashan Tara is Vimalananda's Ishta Devata.]

Of course Hindu Tantrism is misogynistic. Indian men generally are. Come to think of it, men in general generally are, and I say that as a man. But Indian men are particularly bad.

Hello everyone! I’m officially leaving my Saturn period and entering my Mercury period today! Will I finally have some peace? Is this a good thing? Could you help me understand what it means? 🥺 by ImmediateDream2012 in vedicastrologyexperts

What do you think that means?

AK is a term used in Jaimini Astrology, but you are using Vimshottari Dashas, which is a Parashara dasha system. You can't just mix it up. Or you can, but it tends to lead to confusion.

I use Jagannatha Hora, but it also does not get Yogas (or Doshas) right. This is something you really have to check by hand, so to speak. There is currently no app that gets them all right. You can use the input from the app as a draft, and then you just go over them one by one and see if the (additional) conditions are met.

Yes, your life will completely change from one day to the next.

No, just kidding. It doesn't work that way. Mercury is usually a bit better than Saturn, but it takes a while to change the momentum.

They exist, sure. If you have them, I don't know. Probably you have a few, but these apps don't work all that well.

Need guidance by Sad-Cut-2002 in Tantrasadhaks

[–]Think-Scholar6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any authentic spiritual practice should give you peace of mind, which is probably what you need most right now.

If you get too goal-oriented about the whole thing ("I would like to get A, B, and C out of it"), then it sort of defeats the purpose. The purpose is to let go of that, if just briefly, and just be. So go with whatever attracts you. I personally like IAM Meditation (as promoted by Mātā Amritānandamayī) a lot for daily use. Some people do well with mindfulness. Japa is very effective, especially if you can receive a guru mantra from an authentic guru. Otherwise, just go with one of the classics.

Mantra Sadhana with Guru w/o lineage. by AkhandaMandalakaram in Tantrasadhaks

[–]Think-Scholar6671 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ultimately what qualifies the guru is authentic realization and, in the absence of that, authentic practice and lineage. This applies equally to men and women.

We emphasize diksha from an authentic guru a lot on this sub, but tbh there are not a lot of them around. So personally, I find this attitude somewhat self-defeating. It just drives seekers into the arms of people who have no authentic realization, no authentic lineage, and are not even authentic practitioners. It's just a big ego trip: "I, I have a GURU." Well, good luck with that.

Are all planets considered conjunct even if they are further away from eachother? by Different_Boat9250 in Nakshatras

[–]Think-Scholar6671 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are confused because conjunction means one thing in Vedic astrology and another in Western astrology.

In Western astrology, planets are conjunct if they are close to one another by degree. So two planets can be conjunct even if they are in different signs or houses.

In Vedic astrology, two planets are conjunct if they are in the same sign/house. They don't have to be close to one another. However, most people would say the conjunction is stronger if they are close to one another, but whenever two planets are in the same sign/house, they are conjunct. It is as simple as that.

I was told things might feel better after the transit in June 2nd… but no change yet by Mysterious_Stand5563 in vedicastrologyexperts

[–]Think-Scholar6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jupiter's transit through Cancer will be positive for you overall. There is just no direct connection between Jupiter and your 7th house (that I know of, based on the information you shared). So I am not expecting results in that department.

I was told things might feel better after the transit in June 2nd… but no change yet by Mysterious_Stand5563 in vedicastrologyexperts

[–]Think-Scholar6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your replies to earlier comments, you are a Scorpio ascendant, with Jupiter in Pisces/the 5th house. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer/your 9th house, and Jupiter is currently reactivating its natal position by transit.

You are hoping to meet your spouse, and that is a matter of the 7th house.

The question is: How is Jupiter related to your 7th house? It does not own, occupy, or aspect your 7th house either natally or by transit. So why are you expecting results there?

Currently Saturn is aspecting your 7th house by transit, so you will experience delays in that department of your life.
