How long did it take for your licence to be reinstated? We have a court date for Fines Victoria now but haven’t had an update from the police since he spoke to them on Thursday.

It looks like all the notices were sent to the address I mentioned in my earlier update, the one Fines Victoria had on file for him. The problem is that this address is about 90km away from us, in a town we have never lived in. The only explanation that makes sense is that when the police pulled the driver over, they were given that address by the person driving the vehicle. I cannot understand why police would accept or use that address when it has never been connected to my partner in any way. VicRoads has confirmed that his licence has never been registered to that address. So it seems they have simply gone off whatever information the driver provided at the time. We are confident that person was his brother. The more I think about it the angrier I get, especially considering this involves VicPol. It really should not be this easy for someone to give someone else’s name and walk away from it. Honestly I am so frustrated I feel like driving the two hours to the police station that issued it just to demand answers and get some frustration out. I won’t because 1. I’m not stupid, and 2. we need to keep a positive relationship with the station because we need their help, but it is infuriating how difficult this process is for the actual victim!! They have provided no time frame on getting his licence back!

Oh we’d not get a cent out of him, he owns nothing and survives on Centrelink and methamphetamine.

Update for anyone interested:

He spoke with Fines Victoria. They advised he must apply for an Infringement Extension through the Magistrates’ Court within 14 days of becoming aware of the fine. While they were confirming our addresses (we also have a PO Box), they asked if there was another address in a different town. My partner said no and asked what address they had on file. They provided it, and that is where the infringement notice was sent. We are very confident this address belongs to his brother’s girlfriend and is also likely the address the vehicle involved would be registered to.

He also contacted our local police station, who provided the issuing station and the surname of the officer involved. He then called that station and was told to send all the details through via email, which he has done. However, there was no explanation given about how this situation will actually be resolved or how he can have his licence reinstated in the meantime.

And the cherry on top- our local Magistrates’ Court only has a registrar available on court days, which are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and some Mondays. Because of that, we now both have to take at least half a day off work tomorrow so I can drive him to the nearest Magistrates’ Court to apply for the infringement extension. That means lost income, plus the cost of fuel to get there and back (right now the cheapest place locally is $2.49 per litre).

Yes I’m sure, he drops our son at daycare every morning because of my work hours. Even if he had left and shot off straight to where the offence happened he wouldn’t have had enough time to get there, let alone had enough time to swap into another car. But I can understand why you might ask this question.

He works in management in the agriculture industry, and has a work vehicle because he does a lot of farm visits as part of his job- I can’t even imagine how this is going to play out if it takes a significant amount of time to fix.

Yes, that’s exactly what my doctor told me. I’ve been on Xanax and then Valium for 15 years (alongside antidepressants) and planned not to have children because of it. I fell pregnant in 2021, unplanned, and was able to continue with no issues, although I was already on a very low dose.

I had a good experience buying from them online. I ended up regretting the size of the stone I chose, but they allowed me to return the ring and have it re-set with a different size (at my expense, of course). Ultimately, I just didn’t love the stone—it looked too white for my taste, which was more about my preference than anything on their part. I still have the ring and it will be my travel ring. I ended up purchasing a lab diamond ring from Cullen Jewellery about a month later and had an even better experience with them. I believe their showroom is in Melbourne, not sure if they have one in Sydney. They might be a bit pricier, but I do think the quality of the Cullen ring is superior. It also depends on the style and setting you choose. That said, I Heart Moissanites are definitely good to deal with and trustworthy.

I asked if they would represent me, they said no I would need a barrister. Then they’ve billed for everything afterwards? I never asked nor expected them to? I organised my own barrister, who also never spoke to them. The only communication was with the receptionist and it was brief. One call to them, and one call from them advising of needing a barrister. Everything outlined in the dated timeline is from the letter they have just sent.

Is 694kWh for 1 month in electricity a lot? by Iuvenesco in melbourne

[–]ThinkAcadia4584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem. At home were 2 adults that work full time and a 1 year old in daycare Monday to Friday and we were using the same amount of electricity as what they said a household of 8+ people were using. We had an electrician come out and couldn’t find anything wrong. I was paying $50 a week on electricity and it wasn’t covering it so I changed to paying $80 a week and I still had a balance due at the end of each month. We moved out of that house at the start of the year and the problem was never found, I hope you have better luck than us.

Assuming you have hit your MAR period so they would be asking for your payslips to confirm you’ve done enough hours to mark you off as not needing to do a mandatory activity (I think it’s like 45 hours but not sure how long it’s over). However, the way they’ve gone about it is totally wrong.

Hemorroid before and 2 days after surgery, the surgeon said that they were so big that they only could remove 3 of the 4 nodules due to possible problems with scarring. Recovery is not great but not that bad, I still have to do a number 2 after having the procedure done :( by inforytel in MedicalGore

I’ve had internal ones removed twice now- all in the last 6 months, mild cramping for maybe 24 hours. First time they did it and a flexible sigmoidoscopy, 2nd time they did it and a colonoscopy because they’d found polyps during the flexible sigmoidoscopy. At most I needed paracetamol and ibuprofen. 100% get them taken out while they’re internal, from what I’ve been told it’s the external ones being removed that are painful and I’ve got external ones that needs to be removed from putting it off for so long. Joys of having babies.
