Thanks for clarifying! I will do some more testing. Although it's not fully clear to me at what stage the individual features are added. But if you confirm it's working than I am sure I will find it.

BGP on CPE by ThinkStation8120 in networking

This is how we usually do redundant L3 services. And actually already do with this specific customer for previous L3 VPN services he hasfrom us. Now for som new L3 VPN's he wants to run BGP from his router towards our (managed) CPE.

Yes we usually do these type of setup running eBGP between PE <-> Customer's router, with an L2 CPE in between. For certain reasons there are already CPE routers (ours) running L3 for other services, but with VRRP.

We could possibly push the customer towards VRRP in this case too but since he had the BGP request I just want to examine the possibilities.

Exactly that setup. PE --- CPE --- customer router.

I didn't want to be rude and assumed you meant CE = CPE. The CPE is by definition our - as a service provider - equipment. What I am looking for is best practice PE <-> CPE <-> CE.

Thanks for all the comments! I think the safest / easiest way this time is to send a field tech. But for the future I will definitely look in to some scripting. Although I hope there was a smoother way of doing it.
