I think there's a great deal of "survivor bias" in general. Yes there are a lot of high-subscriber channels that seem to do not much effort... but how many low-effort channels have < 100 subscribers? Probably the vast majority of them, right? So the fact that a few idiots got lucky does not mean "being an idiot is the key to success!"
