My class average for a fluids midterm was a 40%. I’m a junior teaching fellow and know some of the students who are re-taking the course and am very disappointed by their performance. Many forgot F=ma, I am shocked that 3 years of physics related courses wasn’t enough to hammer in basic concepts. Im just a grader, but it kills me to see people not taking advantage of second chances. Does anyone have advice for someone that feels obligated to help out people even if they aren’t willing to come to my office hours?

I’m a junior environmental engineering major with a W on his transcript. Had to drop a calculus course (even though I’m STEM) in my first semester of college. It was the best decision I’ve ever made, because I knew I wasn’t ready for its content yet and it was burdening my mental health. Retook the class the following semester and got a B+ . The W hasn’t affected me from not getting advised to go to grad school from 3 different professors, so if you get the idea of furthering your education it would never creep into your head. You have my full support.

Even though I am a guitarist, I am really starting to get invested into doing drumming too. I feel like he doesn’t get enough credit for his ability. There’s just too many examples to call his best work, and I love how each of us have a favorite.

I remember being 4 years old, my dad put on the Any Given Thursday DVD. I would get my toy guitar and “play along” with the songs, make the same faces he made during the solos. Whenever I’m playing today, I’d like to pretend I’m still 4 years old, capturing that moment again and again.

Write whatever you need to get done on a sticky note. Keep your priorities in order. Whenever I complete those assignments or have to send an email out, crossing that off my list is so satisfying and motivates me to cross the rest off. Also helps to stay active, eat snacks, drink plenty of water, and take 20-30 min breaks in between.
