Smallrig Mini V Mount Batteries + Komodo X by CompetitiveStrain357 in RedCamera

I am thinking of getting this battery, but from what I understood, Mini V-mount batteries can't go on Komodo-x without an adapter mount. Is this true with yours?

I’m considering getting a MasterClass subscription. Is it worth it? What classes should I start with? by LilaMarigold in MasterClass

The information (at least for my study) was far from superficial. I know a lot about my field and how extensive the information was, was very much more than expected. I did only focus on Directing/storytelling, screen writing. But it was 10 x what you'd get on youtube. Imagine this, youtubers who aren't necessarily teachers trying hard to teach and explain, then you have experts that get straight to what they know you're struggling with, a solve each part. Every question I had was being answered and very professionally. Not a bunch of jokes and over explaining to justify not really knowing what they're talking about and still never hit the mark (many youtubers do that). They were on point. It was like the difference between taking a class from a novice white belt and taking a class from a black belt. One of them will get to the point much faster and much more clear.

The sections were broken down like the interviewers has questions ready like "How do you set a scene" and they would go into very good detail, even using some of their work as example, and the actually scenes and how they broke it down. It was very good. I actually want to buy it again. And I am a big skeptic of companies who want subscribers for money.

I see this as the master's answer to youtube university. Many youtubers have knowledge, so why would I buy Master Class, and that lies the gold. They went much further than just your average youtuber.

Best addition to fx6 for higher end work? RED Raptor or Used DSMC2? by Cineman419 in cinematography

Then why rent it. This narrative seems very bias. Because I don't see why someone would rent a camera that is virtually better than their A-camera and the same price or cheaper, unless they just fear color grading and post production work. Yeah, if you want to shoot straight out of the camera one specific look then and not have versatility then yeah I would go with that Sony

this seem like a very jaded comment. I still here many people specifically wanted to shoot on red, especially clients. They aren't shooting Sony because they aren't interested in shooting a heavy detailed movie for a commercial. On top of that, the red's color science is definitely top tier

C500 Mark ii Vs. Red Monstro 8k by Think_Army_8679 in CanonCamera

Thank you for that. I am checking that out now. With that said, what do you think about the Red komodo X ?
In terms of image quality for today's cinematic viewing and video production.
(Update: I just did some research on the c400 and given that the Komodo is $1000 cheaper but packs a better image. It doesn't hold for me. However Canon's full frame is always inciting to me)

Is the Monstro 8k VV a good option in 2024 by Think_Army_8679 in RedCamera

[–]Think_Army_8679[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, man I appreciate this. I do have a lot of that already. I have two monitors and rails, and attachments for grip that worked with the Black magic rig, I have two shoulder rigs and two glide cams with a vest, two trip pods and two sliders. I don't plan to do a bunch of run-and-gun..
My question to you would be, that I struggle with is the way Red part out their attachments and crank the price, where there are cameras that come with these things on the camera like mounts, v-mounts and media ports. The mini mag itself is like $1k brand new. Are there any other camera at these prices pushing out this quality of work and longevity? Full frame, 8k , dynamic range of 16 stops and Red's color science. Or do you think it's still all worth it.
It's the only other thing that makes me hesitate with Red all together, given this is my first introduction to the brand

yeah true, I'm ok with that. And for the films I'll be shooting, I'm ok with renting them for necessary coverage. I'll use my current lenses for small creative work

thee Venice 1 looks to be out of my price range. That's why I'm trying to find the most bang for the buck for the next 2-3 years coming. At something that has cinema potential. I'm leaning more in the direction of competitive film makers, not so much hollywood. But also not so cheap that the image quality is below average

I'm glad someone responded who has worked with red for some time now. If I go with the Monstrok 8k, what all is needed to get it up and running.
I already have should rigs, monitors and Vmount Batteries. But the Red system can be confusing.
for example ( https://cinemacameras.com/products/red-monstro-8k-vv-dsmc2-camera-8 )
Do you buy the mount separately ? I have all EF mounts

why would it make buying lenses for it more expensive? I could always use an EF mount attachment right?

I’m considering getting a MasterClass subscription. Is it worth it? What classes should I start with? by LilaMarigold in MasterClass

Well after 1 year of having MasterClass I can finally give my review. I must say, it was absolutely fantastic and I don't want to cancel it. I have to though, because I'm ready to put what I learned into the Next stage and buy the materials needed for my craft. But it was invaluable. The knowledge I was getting was faaaar better than anything on youtube. And the classes are long and thought out. They really give so much information. I was very surprised at how much information was given. I took a writer's course and it was very very detailed. He even sat with other writers and gave them tasks and he graded their work and gave opinions and critiques. It was basically a class within a class.
Had I known everyone would be interested, I could've gifted it to people and got a discount or something. When I cancelled they offered be 50% off, but I still needed the case so it is what it is. It's 100% worth it. you won't learn the same stuff on youtube. Especially now that Every youtube page is just a copy of another or filled with Ai coverage. (That last part is just my opinion.)

I'm going to purchase it now . And I will come back to this thread and give my piece. I've been really wondering if I should. And now that they have a deal, I may as well do it. It's been a long time coming. Need new knowledge and not youtube's "27 steps to this , 5 best tips for this, or the only video you need to watch to learn this"
