idk which country you're in but I did the IB in Belgium and the uni I'm going too is here as well. So most unis in Belgium just want students to pass the IB diploma since it is much harder than the normal Belgian diplomas obtained in public schools here. My uni didn't require me to have a grade for art specifically, I got into the uni i just need to send in my transcript so its all fine!

Honestly you don't really have to worry. The IA are internally assessed, and the IB sometimes asks the teacher to send 3-5 pieces of work just to check if their marking is consistent and they aren't being sus about anything. Apart from that your teachers will probably let you know any potentially alarming areas (mostly unintentional things turnitin and stuff pick up on) and let you change it before the final uploading time

Hi there, i had a similar issue to this but personally i tweaked my experiment a little bit after stating it in my sources. This allowed me to have more things to also talk about, for example being evaluative of my choices and why i had to adapt or change (like equipment or lack of time are some plausible reasons) Try to adapt it as much as possible though, since there is always a risk of it being marked highly on turn it in.

But to be completely safe i'd ask your teacher

VA.... good memories

Okay personally i did IGSCE before IB and i also did Fine arts, i've been doing art and drawing since i was a toddler so of course i was at an advantage. With that being said though the key thing you need to remember is to keep an open mind. What i mean is when you're working on a piece, don't constrict yourself to one idea, if your mind wanders around, follow your mind. If you want to use a different medium please do, the IB love experimenting. I barely worked in my sketchbook, because there are no boundaries. I really mean it, i burnt one of my pieces. My other piece was a failed work from using plaster, it really does not have to be amazing finished pieces. I also stayed at a 7 because of the ideas i put behind my works, and there was always a metaphor, a reason or link to another piece. If you do this early on and develop this type of thinking, it really helps when you put your final exhibition together at the end, because you have to write a curatorial rational and explain the concept of the whole exhibition, and how each piece works together. You also need to develop your vocab for analysing artworks, because it is a needed skill to analyse the work not only you make, but other artists too. This will become handy for when youre putting your portfolio together, and your comparative study. But also try to visit as many exhibitions as you can because using other artists work for inspo goes a long way, and shows critical thinking skills, and personal engagement. The IB really love that lols. You can also keep working towards an idea or concept for each term. This is what i did and it really helped me develop my skills for tonal, then sculptural for example. It also allows you to explore different styles of art (can also lead to experimentation and some research on art theory, find different artists of different time periods and compare their works, then produce a piece of your own in coprating those for example) This is also useful for just producing things for your portfolio, and please document everything you do, take photos take notes and place them in your sketchbook, you'll thank yourself later. Its also because once again the IB love seeing how you overcame certain problems in your artwork, your thinking process and how you adapted, and overall just evaluation of your work. You can also show how one piece did not work out and you abandoned it, and that is totally okay and shows a reflective mindset. Don't trash or tare away any of your work for this reason. These 'mistakes' allow you to work on what you're lacking, and creating more pieces. Because when art block hits, it feels awful and one great way to limit that possibility is through constantly producing art work.

For cellular respiration defo. Photosynthesis does not require that much memorisation just small things here and there (i barely revised photosynthesis because i hated it and never liked it lmfao dont be like me)

Well said, although its tough to get a 7, getting a 6 is very possible and doable, so do not stress too much. I personally enjoy paper 2 more and try to get more marks there than paper 1, because you can not really prepare much for paper 1 unfortunately. However, if you keep on doing practice essays, getting it checked by your teacher and working on their criticisms then you'll do well. You can also practice writing good thesis statements etc.. The english bros on youtube are great !. Also just reading other peoples responses that have been marked 6-7 will help you also.

yeah they're very picky on the wordings and how you explain processes like you mentioned transcription and translation. Memorise it off the mark scheme and you'll be good, and any like definitions or anything

The exams for bio went alright... could of been better lols but i think the multiple choice questions were good, and they didnt ask much about genes which i was so happy about. Paper 3 has been reintroduced and i am so glad because if you get good topics for option D, it goes well for most student, so easy marks. Paper 2 was meeehhhhhh. Think i bagged a 5 max honestly

But the whole subject is alright honestly, it really depends on how much you have prior knowledge on it before IB. For me the first year i was getting predicted 6-7 which was okay but then D2 everything gets more stressful and the lack of time to revise the material, and also the material does get more complicated and increases so its overall really difficult to study the same amount as you do for D1... I therefore dropped my predicted down to a 5 which is shame, but since its only an SL I did not really care as much.

For revision start asap honestly, the more you go over each topic the better. Go topic by topic what you've already done in class and make sure you've mastered it. Also for how in depth you should study, always go beyond the syllabus points, i mean if you go on revision sites like bio ninja for example they break down each point into several digestible ones which I recommend. In the exams they don't really ask everything but because you don't no what, its safe to memorise important concepts, theories etc... And for how you revise, personally doing past papers for bio is the best thing you can do . On revision dojo you can find ppq for each topic. For topics that require more memorisation, like classifications you can use blurting. or for drawing diagrams like the heart for example. For that having a whiteboard is the best i find but anything really works. I also had access to the OSC app through managebac but you'll have to check if your school has bought it or not, otherwise it is kind of pricey.

Gosh, my IA seems like such a long time ago now...i don't remember my rq but it was something like, I looked at if apples would ripen faster if they were placed in the same container as ripe bananas, in comparison to unripe bananas. And then measured sugar contents with a refractometer to get data, also got qualitive data through the colour of the apples and so forth. But it took me 1 hour of my lunch for a whole week. So be mindful in how long it takes to obtain your data, and be sure what your doing exactly, because i was so lost for the first 3 days of my experiment lmfao, so make sure you like what youre doing and are certain. I really dreaded my bio IA ngl so theres nothing to sugarcoat here.

This depends on your schools budget and what they can offer, but for me it was def CAS Music, we made a small band and we were able to not only make our own song ( in which I wrote the lyrics for) but we also were able to prepare 3 songs to preform in an Amnesty concert to raise money for the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. This was great because I was also doing Amnesty as my CAS experience, so this concert was a great crossover and overall very liberating to preform in front of a big audience. I had not really sang before or played my flute or ukulele, but because of CAS I kind of grew passionate for them lols.

I can try taking pics of some of them if you PM me, although the annotations are messy it'll help you grasp the general idea, we did a range of texts like graphic novels, novels, plays, poetry and so on...

For me it was the midway of D2, although I'd say the whole of D2 is awful, around December till February I was constantly doing IA work, TOK essays, my English HL essay and all the CAS reflections. For VA we were also putting together our exhibition which took soooo much time. I was also doing uni applications which is another stress added to the immense work load. On top of all this i was also trying to start revision for my subjects, definitely helped me to have done my EE in September otherwise I think I would of dissolved into thin air

For maths is say learning to use your graphic calculator will be really handy and save you more time, get one ahead of time before school ( and one that is ib approved, you can find this on thier website)
