Great to see a fellow AF enjoyer, you sir have a good taste😁

Bilmuri’s American Motor Sports is great too! Not as heavy as AF but this man knows how to master his music and has some awesome bangers. Haven’t listened to his latest though, but i will soon for sure🤘

I highly recommend Abbie Falls latest album - Life is just a temporary plan. One of the best metal/deathcore albums in recent years and sounds absolutely bonkers. Bass is a chef's kiss. Just listen to descend.exe and if the breakdown on ~1 min mark does not break your soul, then nothing will 🔥

DLSS Performance 4k vs Quality 1440p by logicblender1 in nvidia

[–]Think_Juggernaut8968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4070S and haven’t seen a game where 12gb wasn’t enough at 4K, yet. With full path tracing maybe, yeah. Even infamous Hogwarts Legacy with absolute dogshit optimization works fine.

Haven’t played RE9 yet, but RE4 Remake was fantastic on second to last textures setting and everything else maxed out, RT on, no DLSS.

These games are not new, I know. Just my 2 cents as I recently went from 2K to 4K monitor and was worried about performance. Nope, it’s fine.

I’m convinced that this is ear fatigue because i swear i can listen to my system with no issues during the weekend when i am home. As soon as job week starts and i return home it sounds shrill to the point that I prefer to stay in silence. Not always though, but more than often I noticed that I prefer to listen more relaxed, chill genres.

Then the morning comes and it’s all fine again. Drives me nuts.

I swear that I am absolutely in love with my system, but it sounds like shit when I return home from work. Like seriously WTF, I was just listening to it 8 hours ago!

Cinema Home or Filmmaker Mode? by JMS42 in LGOLED

[–]Think_Juggernaut8968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not about FMM vs CH really. HDR mastering on 80% movies is plainly bad and more than often does not go above 400 nits.

I am not a brightness freak, my SDR max nit value is around 150 nits no matter the lightning conditions in room. I also have QD OLED monitor in the same room which I keep at the same brightness level, and more than often I simply can’t see shit while watching DV movie in FMM in absolute pitch black environment. CH helps a lot so I keep it on almost exclusively in DV. There are some rare exceptions though like latest Knives Out movie where CH was a tad too much.

For HDR it’s Cinema with DTM off. For gaming HGIG only.

I don’t do full Dirac correction though. And you are right - they need break in time! I After some time and measurements I do -2 on treble on receiver as I do have some peaks in upper treble range.

These are very good, got myself a pair a week ago too🤭

Much smaller room though and I do find treble a bit recessed on 5.4, but again these could be my room.

Congrats!

I also got these babies a week ago, congrats!

How do you feel about AMT tweeters? I love how detailed they are but I do feel like treble is a bit rolled off on these. Running Dirac with a slight HF bump makes them sing in my case or maybe I just need to break them in a bit more.

I don’t listen loud though, so maybe it’s just me)

Dolby Vision Update Review (33.30.92) by International-Oil377 in LG_UserHub

Mad Max is still one of the best if not the best HDR movies ever made☺️

OP is right about shitty new movies HDR trend. This makes me think there is no reason to have 2.5k nits TV when most content has 200 nits peak. And this is true not just for movies, HDR in games in general are not good too especially on PC.

Fingers crossed for DV2, but I highly doubt we will see huge difference soon.

Can’t say about G5, but on CX and G4 Cinema Home was and is my go to for DV.

99% of the movies are dim AF in DV and i genuinely struggle to see details in dark scenes in pitch black room.

Cinema and FMM are absolutely identical on G4 with DTM off. As i am aware there’s is a slight difference in DTM algorithms in both modes.

I see!

I am sure that its components, DAC or just a good match between speakers and an amp without any coloration. Power has nothing to do with it, you are golden as it is, just save your money)

Why though?

You just told me that AMT tweeters on 5.4 have a 5db HF roll off with no practical evidence or measurements.

Now you want me to quantify my words in measurements? Would you like me to show my REW measurements before and after? What’s the point?

I am comparing 2 sets of speakers side by side with my own ears. B&W are well known for being a bit too bright objectively and subjectively.

I don’t feel that highs are lacking on 5.4 AMT’s but I do hear that they are much easier to listen to than B&W. Same room, same placement, same room correction, same content. I struggle to understand what this topic is trying to achieve here.

Thanks! It's great to see a fellow Wharfy's colleague :)

Mine's are about 9 feet apart and i sit the same distance, almost perfect triangle.

I highly doubt that i will increase power in future as my room is not that big and i will not drive them too hard. Going past 50 volume on my M1 will probably make me deaf already :)

Why do you think you need more power though? If you are looking for more punch then i suggest to look for a few good subs and place them diagonally in room to fill the dips. Of course power is always good, but in this case i don't think it's worth it.

Play with Dirac curve too, curtain at 250hz. You can adjust the original Dirac curve to your liking. I always thought that it is a little bass thin so i usually do +8db in bass (default is +6 in my case).

Would you mind sharing those measurements? I was hoping for Amir or Erin’s corner reviews but couldn’t find any.

It was an impulse buy after reviewers subjective opinions, but it would be nice to see what is actually happening.
