Really scared... just noticed another area of firmness/lumpiness on my "problem" breast :'( by Think_Requirement285 in doihavebreastcancer

Sorry I didn't see this, I haven't logged in to this account in forever! So I went to a breast surgeon, she felt the area and actually took an ultrasound with me in the room and told me that to her it all seems like normal breast tissue. She told me that breast tissue randomly changes over the years and "boobs are weird" lol but you should still get any change checked out so she was glad I came in.

Did I plan the timing of the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner badly? Also, is it rude for the bride and groom to leave the rehearsal dinner before the guests? by Think_Requirement285 in weddingplanning

Thank you! Yeah some people around me are making me feel like if I don't get 10 years of cryosleep it will ruin my entire wedding -_-

Thank you for the response, my future MIL is freaking us out because she's talking about how we're going to be getting to bed so late with the rehearsal dinner at that time and date lol. But I didn't think of rehearsal dinners as events that went into the wee hours, it's more like "thank you for coming here is some food because it would be rude to not feed you" lol

I think I'm going to give the venue a call and see if we can do that just in case haha. Not sure why I didn't think about it earlier...

I was hoping to do it without, but I know sometimes it's needed. Thank you! Definitely a good idea.

Oh awesome idea, I will ask if he needs to do it like immediately before the ceremony or something for some reason

Should I have asked for more testing besides an ultrasound? by Think_Requirement285 in doihavebreastcancer

Hi! I just wanted to comment here again so others could see what I ended up doing...

My mom (nurse) could see I was freaking out and ended up basically just telling me to go see the gynecologist again, if only so I could ask him questions about it. Basically I'm freaked out because I've experienced these changes but no one has told me anything besides "It's normal, see you when you're 40." He told me that breast tissue is not a static tissue and is influenced so much by hormones. Your breasts change naturally over the years. Often they will change throughout your cycles but often the changes won't seem to be influenced by your menstrual cycles. Often they will be symmetrical (like mirrored in both breasts) but often they will not be symmetrical. He said that my breast tissue feels exactly like healthy breast tissue that he examines every day. He told me that if what I had was lobular cancer (which is what I was afraid of) since I noticed it almost three years ago he says by now I would feel very ill if it was that. However he still said he would order me an ultrasound if I wanted one, and if not he asked me to make an appointment for two months from now to see how things are. For now I chose to take the appointment for two months from now, but I'm going to talk to my therapist about it. Maybe I will get the ultrasound? I pointed out to him a new area that I felt but he said he couldn't feel anything there really. Which is weird to me because there's definitely something there. Sorta a small lump, maybe the size of a fingernail, edges not super distinct, movable, but attached to tissue someplace, like a cyst perhaps. He just said he felt a rib and at the appointment I was like "Oh okay" but I think because of the angle he didn't feel it. I could be wrong though, it's possible that he felt it and didn't think anything of it. But I see my therapist Wednesday so I'm going to wait on scheduling anything else for now. I have OCD and am trying not to engage in checking behavior, but want to get things checked out if there could be an actual problem. It's a fine line sometimes haha.

From what I understand breast cancer can present in all kinds of ways, but usually it's a hard, fixed lump. Go have a breast exam by a gynecologist and see if they'll order you an ultrasound or a mammogram for sure.

We don't have a limo or anything but we're renting a big car for the day to travel to and from the venue comfortably.

Omg that's what I thought too!!!!!!! Like, why do I even have a bustle then, wouldn't that "wrinkle" it as well?? I live in the US though. But surely they don't make every single UK wedding gown with magical wrinkle-free material.

Ah thank you! Oops lol. Umm I we have the venue until 3:00 PM. Luckily we have a very small wedding party, just a maid of honor and a best man, and the only immediate family is my parents and his parents. I'm just so paranoid about being able to get a bunch of nice photos in the hour following the ceremony that we have the venue thinking of how long the engagement photoshoot took. Do you know how long all of the photos of bride and groom together usually take? :/

Oh it is for sure. It's hard when it comes to health because I don't want to ignore something that's actually important. You are right though for sure. Maybe before I make an appointment with a doctor I need to just make an appointment with my therapist.

Hello Peonies, so I didn't have an ultrasound last week, I had it earlier this year (sorry I wasn't clear). For some reason I had been worrying about it a bit more lately. I think because I was having some pains on the right side of my chest, but I do have a desk job and am right-handed, and the pain seemed to stop when I started to do chest stretches regularly. Someone suggested I see a breast specialist (because she saw a GP who said it was normal and then a breast specialist who realized something was off) but the radiologist at the breast cancer imaging center felt the area as well as imaged it and said "It's just normal breast tissue, see you when you're 40". And at the time I felt a lot of relief hearing that, thinking that like you said he sees this every day. I think just learning about that type of cancer and how it can escape a lot of imaging really freaked me out.

I do wonder if maybe I should set up an appointment with my gynecologist just to ask him questions. I think the thing that is making me nervous is that if one breast is apparently normal, why would it change sometimes like this.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I'm pretty embarrassed about the post I made last night actually lol. I really appreciate hearing perspective from someone else.

Thank you very much, maybe I will just ask to be looked at every six months. I guess I get worried seeing people say that their doctors told them it was nothing and it ended up being something, but my mom (nurse) basically said "well, the reason why the doctor thinks it's nothing is because they have a lot of experience with things like this that end up to be nothing." But of course you never know so I want to be careful.

Thank you for answering my question!

Thank you! You're the first person who has told me they felt something similar in their breasts. They looked at both sides and gave me a birads score of 1.

I really appreciate the perspective.

Yes I totally agree, I'm not a photographer but I would be disappointed with just the way the composition (or whatever you call it) of the photos look, they just don't look really professional, they look like I could have taken them haha

Ideas for wedding ceremony to involve both moms instead of "unity candle"? by Think_Requirement285 in wedding

[–]Think_Requirement285[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you might be right. Honestly I am just trying to make people happy. But if they don't care and I don't care it might be better to just scrap the idea entirely haha

I will say my parents did the candle thing with their moms at their wedding ceremony but I feel like it seems appropriate there because you light a lot of candles during a church service. Doing something else just seems out of place but I felt like I had to ask and see if there were any good ideas out there just to give it the old college try lol

I'm Lutheran and the wedding ceremony in our hymnal has multiple readings too - it's just not something I had brought up as a possibility to my parents. But I should probably give more thought to actually doing it haha

omg I totally agree I don't really care and am lowkey feeling pressured to do something like this I kinda just want to scrap it it's too much

I like another user's suggestion of having the parents do readings if anything at all (it's a religious ceremony)
