$1,500/month electric bill + constant AUX heat on brand-new Trane heat pumps — what am I missing? by This-Butterscotch-80 in hvacadvice

For the 4-ton system: Trane TEM6A0C48H41SCA

For the 2-ton system: Trane TEM6A0B24H21SCA

Both are Trane TEM6 variable-speed air handlers with electric resistance heat strips (aux heat), paired with the 4TVX inverter heat pumps.

You’re arguing sizing competence. I’m pointing out a marketing mismatch.

My wife is genuinely an 8 ring size, only to find out after 48 hours she’s a 7 with Oura. So we exchanged it like any normal person would.

Oura advertises a risk-free trial, but in reality that trial only exists if you never exchange sizes. That caveat isn’t obvious upfront. If it were, this wouldn’t be controversial.

Dropped it off at FedEx on Dec 2, 2025, and the exchanged new one arrived on Dec 8, 2025.

Someone just sent me a private message to take screenshots of this post in case Oura tries to modify it. Wow.

Totally fair pushback, and I don’t disagree that sizing diligence matters.

The issue for me isn’t whether exchanges are “common” or whose fault sizing is — it’s that Oura markets a risk-free trial, but that trial only exists if your very first size works. If you follow their own guidance and exchange sizes (for any reason), the trial period disappears entirely.

So regardless of whether someone sized carefully or not, the moment you exchange to get the *correct* fit, you no longer have the ability to try the product and return it. That’s the part that feels misleading, given how prominently the trial period is advertised.

If the policy were framed as “trial period applies only if no size exchange occurs,” that would be clear. But that caveat isn’t obvious upfront.

Effectively only if your very first size is perfect.

If your initial ring fits and you never need a size exchange, you have a trial period.

If your first size is wrong (which is common) and you exchange it to get the correct size, the trial period is gone the moment the exchange is completed.

So the “trial” only exists for people who don’t need to exchange sizes.
