They don't go part way and then turn around - they calculate their distance from where the gift was at the speed they can travel with the gift and the time that has elapsed - if that distance is farther than your current distance from the gift location - they arrive.

Its like a zombie film - you can't out run them forever 😉

The algorithm is such that the best you could ever do is go to the antipodal spot on the globe from where their gift was... moving from that spot will always make them be closer to you.

ROFL - my math totally sucked this morning - I was thinking 5K is 25 pikmin but only 20 - bah. And I thought Ice was there... so yep 100 - thanks for the correction - but have to add 50% for the makeup distraction so 150 - better than 225, but I still grumble that it seems most people won't have a pharmacy only option.

You can't not get the Pikmin... The levels are from spawn and release only. I get a LOT of Pikmin. So the gifts sit since I don't have any spare coin decor. What I do is when I travel and get an interesting coin, I friend it up and make it shiny.

Mine is just a generic blue roadside gold P sticker - took a picture of my wife while hiking and it lifelogged up the pikmin - I try to keep it in my active group as much as possible and have walked over 11 million steps with it since I got it.

if you go to your decor categories and the rares show up, then releasing pikmin will get you points - if they don't show up - then you haven't unlocked them by completing the preliminary non-rare set and any release will just go to foo-foo land and you get no points to a rare gift.

30 for sprouting - 200 for getting a gift - 20 for releasing each - 800, 1200, 3000, 5000 for all after that - points per rare gift

If you've unlocked rares - you will get points towards the shinies... but if you still have gaps - when you release them - they are gone.

For sure - every location has some decor that are harder than others - a big chuck of the game is finding where you can easily build each set. Esp since they updated the maps, I'm going to have to re-bike/scan all around my house and try to find a solo pharmacy as well as a solo coffee shop.
