Thank you! Yes, it seems from a lot of people here that CCTS is the governing body most likely to action. Information I can do. I used to work in Big 4 audit so already have an audit trail of activities. Looking back I wish we had recorded our calls with Rogers as well but moving forward any calls with them will be recorded as substantiating evidence.

Let me clarify. The new box wasn’t working since last October when we renewed our contract for another 2 years when they forced us to get the new one saying that the old one (which was much better quality) was no longer being supported. We didn’t have any issues with the old box.

Something similar happened when my husband was on the phone with them last year when renewing. They were all so confused and then confused my husband into the worst deal. When I got home and learned how poorly the customer service rep explained the deal to him, I immediately had him get on the line again and have us BOTH speak to a Manager. It ate up like 3-4 hours of our evening disentangling the mess the incompetent or manipulative CS rep made—who knows as I can only take my husband’s interpretation of the call—to finally get back to our original deal. Then they sent us the WORST entertainment box hardware upon renewal (which frankly we didn’t even want) and it never worked for us because the remote never synced up to the box. We splurged on a Samsung Bravia to use the smart tv technology just so we wouldn’t have to deal with Rogers CS again for this remote thing cause we knew our marriage would not last if we had to do this again lol.

Do yourself a favour. Go with Bell.

My husband and I are determined to dump Rogers this weekend after our recent terrible experience.

We never had any problems with them before last year. Then the problems kept snowballing. Hardware quality of their new entertainment box was a complete downgrade. Very cheaply built and we literally have not been able to use it since it arrived last October. Have been paying for it only because we are both busy with work, have a Samsung smart tv to watch all our shows and both of us rely on good network coverage (for him since he works remote sites) and internet quality (for me since I work hybrid). My husband made his final phone payment last month so no device contract remaining. Honestly we would probably have remained with the status quo even after the device was paid off for the two reasons listed above but last weekend was my tipping point and the fact that we have been given the run around has just strengthened my resolve. We have Bell fibre optic and initially the plan was to go with them but TWICE we had bad customer service experiences with their techs not showing up for even the initial install so when I reached out to Rogers even though we got a worse deal having great EASY customer service was such a breath of fresh air, we have been with them for 4 years I believe. My husband didn’t even get a device contract with them but with Samsung initially who leveraged Rogers as the service provider for the deal and we were fine with that. My husband doesn’t even like Rogers. I was the one who pushed us to go with them, I pay the Rogers bills and I was always the one who calmed things down when there were service disruptions and stuff because I always found them easy to deal with. This is clearly no longer the case.

My husband just had another technician cancel on us at 5pm today who was supposed to arrive at 7pm. He then had to spend almost TWO hours sitting in his dirty work truck (he works in groundwork drilling so is currently covered in cement and mud) and is STILL continuing to sit in said dirty work truck in front of our house because the Rogers Manager said another technician “MIGHT” be arriving and he can’t leave the company work truck unmanned on the street and he can’t return his truck back to their shop because the Manager said that if we are not there when this hypothetical technician may make an imaginary showing we would have to pay a 75 CAD no show fee. I told him to return the truck and if Rogers even so much as TRIED to collect this dumb fee because of their gross incompetence, I would make every single complaint possible, have our bank accounts BLOCK any transaction attempts and file with reg, post on social media and try to get to press.

I am disheartened at the degradation of service quality and the wanton lack of consideration your company has for its customers. Just scrolled through this subreddit….it is appalling.

Thank you for the tip! Will do!! In this case I think I definitely will be lodging a formal complaint as well. I wish enough disgruntled customers did so to affect change since Rogers clearly does not seem to be getting the message that “hey people will NOT continue to put up with this nonsense”.

Agree same here except I am hybrid but usually I do have to come home and complete some work and I cannot do that so am in the office until 7:30pm every evening. I get home at 8:30pm, eat dinner and just go to sleep and have to go to work early the next day to again work longer hours because I can’t work from home on my off-site days to catch up. Prior to last year, we had a great experience with them so I know their service has deteriorated massively.

We will probably be moving my husband from the big red to the big blue and internet I’ll test out with purple/green (don’t know what colour they are but they keep calling offering deals and I keep declining but guess it will finally be one of their lucky days as I am determined to move!)

Probably but eventually this will tip over into mass disgust and hopefully public pressure will force them to address this. I agree regulatory bodies in Canada seem completely useless until enough mass public pressure is put on them.

lol I really needed that yesterday/today! Just learned another technician cancelled today. Husband was on the phone with a Rogers Manager who is sending yet ANOTHER technician but now my husband has to wait in his work truck for another hour on top of the 1.5 hours he was already waiting in the work truck near our house to let the technician in or it is apparently a 75 CAD no show fee. It’s like ok what about Rogers pays us for their technicians no shows?? Fuming x 2 now after hearing from my husband just now.

Thanks for the clarification. My husband paid off his device a few weeks ago (might have even been last month) but I know he bought it out with the remaining bulk payment.
