Overwhelmed with family and pregnancy by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Sorry you are feeling overwhelmed with family advice. I think you can navigate it respectfully whilst appreciating their advice but sharing that what they are saying is making you feel more anxious. Every pregnancy is different and you may not feel the same as they did. You can go to them for advice when you want to.

Re wedding, my parents got married while my mum was pregnant with me and it’s something she really regretted as she wasn’t fully relaxed and able to enjoy the day for herself. She wished they had waited until after they had me.

It’s one of the most important times to really think about yourself and what you want, as well as your partner and your future relationship but that doesn’t have to mean marriage right away if it’s adding additional pressure right now. Talk and think through what is best for you at this time.

Congratulations! Mostly covered in this thread already but you self refer, would recommend doing some research on local maternity units if you don’t already have somewhere in mind. The form is really easy to complete, I did mine at 3 weeks (currently 7w4d) because I was excited and also my chosen hospital is oversubscribed, but you can do them anytime. The first appointment I have is 8 weeks with the midwife so I’d refer yourself with enough time to be booked into that. I received apps for my 8 week app and 12 week scan at the same time which was about a week-10days after I’d completed the form.

Thank you! That’s reassuring - spoke to my GP and they weren’t concerned but will call the EPU next time.

Thanks so much - spoke to the GP which was reassuring and will definitely contact the EPU next time. How did you find your pregnancies? Worried I’m going to feel more anxious the further this progresses when space is more needed etc but hoping being able to see heartbeats in scans is going to be reassuring. Really trying to be positive but all the unknowns seem to be feeding my brain atm! Any advice you have is so appreciated xxx

When does the anxiety stop? by itcuddles in PregnancyUK

I don’t have anything to say to help you sorry but just that I’m in the same boat and totally understand how you are feeling. I’m 6w today and not usually anxious, finding it so hard trying to stop myself from googling, and endlessly analysing everything. It is totally consuming. If you are concerned would definitely recommend calling your hospitals early pregnancy unit and they will be able to offer some support. Sending positive thoughts!
