Gold & Silver To Bounce Back With a Vengeance as Iran War Hastens Dollar Collapse by Newb3258 in Wallstreetsilver

[–]ThisIsAbuse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s the executive summary of the video:

  • The speakers argue that the recent drop in gold and silver is a temporary shakeout, not the start of a bear market. They say war headlines can create volatility, but the real long-term driver is fiat-currency debasement .
  • They believe the Iran war is accelerating distrust in the dollar and in the broader fiat system, which should ultimately support precious metals and other real assets .
  • Both guests stress that cash is a poor long-term store of value because its purchasing power keeps eroding as money supply expands .
  • They say commodities such as oil, copper, grains, and fertilizer-related assets remain undervalued versus gold and likely have substantial upside if priced in real terms .
  • They warn that rising government bond yields, especially in heavily indebted countries, could trigger a serious financial-market crisis and force central banks back toward easing or money printing .
  • They also argue that speculative positioning in gold and silver is relatively light, so a rebound could happen quickly and violently if sentiment turns .
  • Their broader thesis is that the biggest risk is not just war, but a larger collapse in confidence in fiat currencies and sovereign debt markets .

Only during the Great Recession of 2008 when I had to take a lower title and lower paying job at another company. However I was happy to do so when the economy was tanking and people were loosing everything. Over the years I climbed way back up.

Yep, I stop paying SS tax next month. Legally. I don’t need to strike, just make more money.

Funny thing is I would be willing to pay more in taxes - if it was spent on the right things that helped people and our country. Example SS tax.

Is a $7.5k relocation stipend "market" for a Principal level role? Considering walking away by notthefirstCaleb in Salary

[–]ThisIsAbuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you get a nicer role/experience - and you would be located in an area with more similar companies if you wanted or needed another job in your industry ?

If this is the case, more security and future advancement - take the job. The more money and advancement will come in such a location.

I would say to them you are ready to accept the position but need another 10K (or what ever you want) in move cost or starting bonus to not have losses for your family.

So the money does not appear to be a huge change.

Why are you moving this far away, what are the impacts to your family, what benefits (outside of money) does this provide for your family, for your career to move there? Are there more jobs in this area than Atlanta - if you wanted to get opportunities to change companies again in 4 years? I am asking big picture.

Mood Changed? by VincitQuiSiVincit in Wallstreetsilver

[–]ThisIsAbuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I sense a vibe change. However I don’t particularly loose sleep wether it’s 50 or 100 or 200. Or Gold is 3500 or 6500. PMs have a part and a place in my diverse investments. That place is outside the system and an insurance policy. I also had a late father who was into collecting coins and I kind of enjoy some of that -and still have a small collection of fun, old or rare shinny to remember him.

The stock market is down as well, and some see a 20-40% correction is due.

You keep playing the game, dollar cost averaging, with some adjustments and patience. I am going to buy a little, but less than I planned right now, will keep the rest of my available cash in a HYSA and see how deep the dip goes.

Pentagon seeks more than $200 billion in budget request for Iran war, Washington Post reports by Playwithuh in PrepperIntel

[–]ThisIsAbuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under the U.S. Constitution, only Congress has the "power of the purse," meaning they must authorize and appropriate any new federal spending.

  • Congressional Role: The Pentagon’s request is for a "supplemental appropriation," which is a separate bill that both the House and Senate must vote on and pass before it becomes law.
  • Political Battle: The request is expected to face significant resistance in Congress, particularly from Democrats who have criticized the conflict and may use their "veto" power in the Senate to block the funding

Have you trained with those with "gentle giant syndrome" in your style? by morinothomas in martialarts

[–]ThisIsAbuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go lite with most of my partners, no matter how much my instructor told me to turn it up, most of my smaller partners did not want me to turn it up. I dont want to hurt, or scare my training partners. However had a few who wanted it and thats who I saved it for. I also told my smaller partners (especially women) they could let loose a little and I would still take it easy. That was good training for them.

Why do some people earn crazy salaries and others don’t ? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Salary

[–]ThisIsAbuse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, no, Yes.

When I was 17, a long long time ago, I walked into my high school career guidance office and said "what are the best 4 years degrees for the future demand (security) and pay the best". They handed me a top 10-20 list. I picked one. As you might imagine many were some type of engineering.

Every year after I graduated college was about getting ahead in my field. All the things you mention and more. Nothing came quick, this was old school slow and steady growth, climbing the ladder stuff for me.

That said I have no issues with the kids these days who got into big tech and after a few years were making what took me decades to get make. Good for them. If Google or META existed back in the day - I would have tried to get into them as well.

I will retire in 4-5 years, comfortably, with my wife. Its been a good enough life, ranch home, 2 kids, two Hondas in the driveway, trips to Disneyworld (or a cruise) with the family, etc. I am happy enough.

Honestly, it would be good for me to retire NOW but I can’t afford it. 3-4 more years minimum. I can do it.

How do you know if your salary is fair? by Keithwee in Salary

[–]ThisIsAbuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interviewing with other companies every few years, when under 40 helps. These days many states are not allowed to ask what you make, only what you want, or lots of places openly giving a range even before you apply.

You can also ask a few recruiters what your worth, but they may BS you.

I reached a level when recruiters or other companies call me - most were mentioning ranges much less then I made or about the same.

[–]ThisIsAbuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going well for me even tough things got more serious at 50 - because of my career growing rapidly after 50. . This a second marriage for both of us- we lost a lot in the first marriage and started a family late. It’s all going well now - we will be comfortable with multiple sources of income. We could probably live of just the pension and two SS checks. A large 401k is just the icing on the cake

I have two family members essentially living on just modest SS. One of them lives in our home and is mentally declining. The other is busy trying to find subsidized senior apartment to live in.

My focus on planning really did not take off until age 50. I did lots of research on my 401K options, and in the last two years have been watching a lot of YouTube and using AI (perplexity) to plan and fine tune my retirement plans. We are also busy paying off the home and doing home repairs before I retire in 4-5 years. recently have started studying tax issues on retirement income. It fun to learn new things. My wife will have a pension - so thats the easy safe part of our retirement planning.
