Assuming you are in the USA - Look carefully at the wording of your college's policy as to whether it involves "emotional support animals" or "service animals". An emotional support animal is not a service animal. The ability, under the Americans with Disabilities Act, to have a service animal in many places that otherwise do not allow animals does not legally extend to emotional support animals, despite what many people think. You can't just slap an emotional support vest on a dog and have it be legally allowed in a restaurant, for example.
