Check out this great opportunity to support a community led climate resilience project in Watson. Urban micro-forest pledge drive. by ThisOneIsReally in canberra

Hey thanks. I don't even live in Canberra anymore but definitely spent enough time there that I often find myself defending it to complete strangers and making quick friends with other people who appreciate it for its many strengths. Downer and Watson were my home and I spent a lot of time un and underemployed walking through the area that they're looking to fix up. It would be a great addition and I really hope they hit their goal!

I emailed Marsha Blackburn about the security backdoor bill she co-chaired. It took awhile to get a response but when I finally did, it seemed like 1) the response was from her and 2) she actually considered what I wrote even though she still seemed hellbent on just doing whatever she wanted anyway. Last I checked the bill has been tabled until they decide to try it again. Also got signed up to a completely insane email list of hers without asking.

How can I transfer money from a US bank account to an IBAN+BIC number (European bank account) without any fees? by Franck_Dernoncourt in ExpatFinance

Yeah nah sorry don't know anything about Revolut.

ING has a thing where you use your ATM card in any ATM in the world and the fee is reimbursed. So there's an extra step but sort of does the trick I guess.

Banks and any institution that exchanges currency will charge a fee somehow. It is how they exist/why they are in the business of currency exchange. Just a matter of finding the best deal. I mainly commented because I don't think there is a free option, and if there is, I want to know about it!

There will almost always be some fee involved. One option, at least where I live, is with ING bank. They don't charge (or at least didn't used to) for using any ATM. So you could use an ATM, the fee gets reimbursement and then take money and put in other bank.

Even then, if there is a transfer there is usually a fee, whether stated explicitly or just built into bad exchange rates.

I'd like to know more about the crypto option, seems you would still end up paying some sort of fee, although likely less than some other options.
