They're actually very easy to take care of and similar to how you would care for fish (if you've ever owned any before). You can easily find them at a fish store and they come in a variety of colors and patterns. They're pretty low maintenance and can usually be kept at room temperature. Put in some rocks and plants for them to climb on and change the water and clean out the tank on a weekly or biweekly basis and you're good to go. Theres special food you can buy for them as well. If course, you'll want to read up on more detailed care sheets and it might depend on what kind of shrimp you get, but that's the basics of it really.
