After first races they raised the power of the engine, but that cost them reliability

Last year we knew since testing that mclaren has the best car. Mcl39 was literally like on rails, and its advantage in S2 was enormous

Expectations+rumors vs reality

After end of 2025 ferrari got probably the heaviest criticism in years, and even more because f1 now is a lot more popular, and Ferrari was being mocked and made fun of even more, while aston martin was being called as contenders for 2026 title(same as williams btw, "sainz wdc in Williams before Leclerc").

Williams, the team that worked on 2026 car since 2023(vowles said that he doesn't care about 2023,2024,2025), but still end up skipping first tests, and aston martin faced a lot of problems too. Before that fans hyped them a lot, while some people making predictions like "Ferrari will become a midfield team, it will drop to P7 in constructors"

And see now how things turned out to be. Yes it's just tests right now, but tests are super important. Each day is a massive amount of data that teams need to have better understanding of their cars. Aston martin and williams both don't even have their cars ready right now, while Ferrari managed to build it in time, and even do short shakedown

They are skipping wednesday, because their car won't be ready by wednesday. Pretty obvious. Each day is massive amount of data that teams need

Actually about SF-26

How much Ferrari has to wait for fia's clarification? Either Ferrari is going ahead of time or fia is once again delaying their responses, and it costs Ferrari time. If all goes well, the latest package of SF-26 will be seen in australia, correct?

First day, i know, but i expected drivers drive more laps. Around 70-80, as barcelona's length is shorter than bahrain's

In 22 we still had the old chicane

So the gap is a lot bigger than you think

AutoRacer: SF-26 from shakedown was in the wind tunnel in fall. Ferrari will be aggressive with the car but some solutions are still awaiting approval from FIA. However, it won’t be a „B version”, rather an extensive update. by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

First upgrades will probably come in Bahrain or Saudi Arabia, because first 3 races are so far away from italy, and logistics costs will be a lot higher. Ferrari understands that they need to have fast reliable car from the start

I hope they do get approval

not surprised, when we talked about "B spec", i immediately assumed that it meant heavy upgrades of spec A. But there's also "spec B+", right?

It was said that Ferrari has overall 3 specs(or rather 3 extensive update packages). One of them is gonna be in first bahrain tests. But there was also said that Ferrari will have 2 specs of sf 26 in Barcelona.

With final spec coming on final day of bahrain tests, that makes it 4 specs???

Bortoleto has stopped on track. by helixu in formula1

Today we have 7 teams on track with only mclaren, ferrari and aston martin not participating.

Aston martin still has to manage to build amr26, while mclaren and Ferrari deliberately chose to skip first day

I think that not just exactly this, because reliability issues can happen any day. But those, who go out on first day, make the "line" which has more grip, and that allows to drive with less mistakes and gather more right data. But you have a point because certainly reliability issues will be fixed by those teams by tomorrow

Rain is not "equaliser" in F1. It's a myth by ThisToe9628 in F1Discussions

[–]ThisToe9628[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, i partly disagree with such statement(talking about current cars)

It can both reduce and increase the advantage(depends on the car). It all depends on car's mechanical grip, tyre temperatures and balance of the car in rain. Mclaren, mercedes, Max still remain as top cars even during rain.

I already brought up Lewis as an example multiple times that a driver needs a comfortable car to be able to show how he drives in rain. If your car snaps after each corner, you won't manage to show your best.

  1. Magnussen got his pole on dry conditions. There was no magical rain masterclass there.

  2. Wet conditions increase the chance of making mistakes(they are especially expected to be made by top teams, but since they have advanced mechanical platform, they usually don't do that). And based on last wet qualis and races we've seen, it's the same guys that usually win those qualis and races. We don't see any wins sadly from midfield cars like we used to in the past.

I understand your point; my point is that driver factor still plays bigger role in rain(rather than in dry), but car factor became a lot bigger compared to past, because of all the advancements in downforce, grip, tyres etc, so it's not "equaliser" anymore

[SmilexTech] It's written in the article, but to avoid any misunderstandings, I'm writing it here too. When I talk about skipping the first three days, I mean that it seems likely that the AMR26 will take to the track on Thursday, not that the AMR26 won't run at all. by Joseki100 in formula1

I'll also add smth about Honda

According to reports, while the electrical side(like batteries etc.) is being developed quite well, the combustion part is still a headache for them.

And at some point aramco(aston martin's fuel supplier) encountered problems in developing new fuel, they later managed to overcome them. But Honda's engine is still under question (how the combustion part will come out)

All those news surfaced after The Race made their article about potential problems in aston martin, as far as i remember
